Director’s Roundup
  •  President Carmel
    • Carmel has supplied a letter of support to Leigh at Leeton Shire Council for a grant application for upgrading the electricity supply at Mountford Park. If successful, this will make improvements for festivals and markets etc.
    • Stories of Resilience Breakfast – 7am, 27th November.
    • No meeting on 28th.
    • Carmel has been approached by a man called Bill, who is responsible for the Leeton Plaza. He is running an Open Day on 15 Dec (10 am- 1pm). Bill was seeking the services of a Food Vân. Graeme Kruger has indicated we could do Aussie Hot Dogs (ie Sausage in a roll) for $4. At least 8 indicated their availability so the consensus was to agree provided there was access to electricity, water and a prominent position.

    • Brian indicated that several schools have invited Rotary to their speech days.
    • The list of volunteers is as follows. We still need a volunteer for Leeton High School on 13 December

  • Resilience Breakfast (about ageing) -Paul Maytom, Jo Edwards (about dementia) and Bill Draper. Registrations are about 72 so far.
    • Christmas Party on 30 November – 6 for 6.30pm.    $25 per head. A sheet was put out last week for members to volunteer dishes to bring. Peter is a late apology tonight so if you want to volunteer, please contact Peter directly
    • Terry Schmidt has invited Rotary to a focus group meeting on the Community Strategic Plan at the Yellow Room, Leeton Library on Wednesday 27th November at 6pm – 8 pm. Jennifer Newton responded that she would be available.
    • Brian and Dan will attend the next Localise You get together on Thursday 28th November at the Leeton Hotel
  • Matt
    • There will be no meeting on 28th
    • A vocational meeting may be held on 12 December
  • Geoff
    • Water sampling at Berembed Weir on 19th November. This was part of the Great Wildlife search for the Odonanta Foundation.
    • A very successful trip with Geoff and Mary-Anne, Jennifer, Carol and Bruer, Dan, Eric and Brian attending. The day was started with smoko followed by the water sampling, a tumble by Brian and Sausages and salads prepared by Geoff, Eric and Mary-Anne. A very pleasant day for a trip to the country.

The Serge in a shocked mood
 
Greg was a little surprised to be Sergeant as he has been away for a few weeks and knows little of the local gossip.
 
Meanwhile he found out that Dan was surprised to find he need a new phone – let’s say he had not been aware that the close of 3G would also affect him. Also, Bill tried to explain how the loss of 3 G might or might not affect the hearing loops and lift at the showground and Bruer advised everyone that buying a phone overseas with7G technology might leave you unable to dial OOO in an emergency.
 
Matt Rhodes played cricket with his son Henry last weekend. Their combined score was 60. Henry was a duck, and Matt was pretty sore the next day – in fact walking was not a happy activity!!!!
 
Greg introduced the new professional and glossy programme for the Roxy Theatre. There will be a series of “soft option” programmes weekly from 3 December until 1st March for the Grand Opening.

The mayor had officially opened the one-man art show and was browsing along the paintings when he stopped with a start in front of a picture of a woman reclining nude on a couch.
 
 “That’s my wife,” he cried.  “You scoundrel. You have had my wife up here posing nude in your studio.”
 
The artist, a little terrified, said it wasn’t the case at all.  “I painted it from memory,” he said.
