Strawberries and Kahlua

 

Last week Matt surprised us with a two course meal, he says it was due to a great deal on fresh strawberries but I think we know that it is really because he loves us dearly!

 

  

 

Most of us were able to keep our cool, including our guest T.J. who has recently moved to Leeton as a relieving pharmacist, however Graeme was positively turned upside down by the meal.

 

  

 

Dan reports that our BBQ trailer is intact after his run in with a pesky Australian roundabout - occupational hazard of living in a Burley-Griffin designed town, Dan!

 

Leeton Central's planned showing of Ride Like a Girl at the Roxy has been postponed indefinitely until the complexities around the licencing conditions are resolved. 
There is some kind of requirement to show a season of the movie by any venue that takes up the Rotary International licence and the Roxy is doubtful about the commercial viability of that course of action. Leeton club and Leeton Central are in talks about alternate venues and possible negotiations with the distributor. 
We will keep the members updated as events unfold!

 

Next week the 26th September, our dinner meeting will be at the Water Commission building on Chelmsford Place. Normal dinner price applies and pizza will be ordered. 
Members will have the opportunity for a private viewing of the Underworld Exhibition while we eat. Thank you to Sue Voss!

 

At the Board meeting President Anthony called for nominations to fill the category of Management - Aged Care. Nominations are due to the secretary by 5.00pm Thursday 19th September.

 

On the 13th of October, Nicholas will represent President Anthony at the District 9700 Annual General Meeting. The date of Leeton club's AGM hasn't been set yet but we are looking at late November. 

 

The Wade Hotel has generously offered to host our Oktoberfest Raffle on the 17th of October. Prizes will be the Soldiers Club dinner vouchers and the many cases of beer and cider we have left over from the Art Deco Festival. Leeton Central and Narrandera clubs will be invited to participate and we hope to raise plenty of money for our causes.

 

A guest speaker has been confirmed for the 24th of October, Tammy Cabban from the Senior's Rights Service will be presenting to educate members on her organisation's crucial work in protecting the rights of Seniors in and out of residential care in NSW. With many reforms in the aged care sector I think it will interest everyone who can attend that night.
