No Puzzle, no story this week. Instead you get notes on the Mental Health talk last week.
Mental Health
The Mental Health Support Skills Workshop was facilitated by Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) and was supported by Leeton Rotary and Leeton Collaborative Care Project.
Maryann Ianneli started the conversation with a talk about the Collaborative Care Project. An initial survey defined the local needs for mental health and primary care for families. Training to allow pharmacists to help with non-emergency diagnostics. Encouraging recruitment of medical staff by emphasising the positive attributes of our locality. The importance of self-care in helping others.
Faith Rogers (ramhp) topics included: understanding mental health and stress; recognising signs of mental illness; how to have a supportive conversation; talking about suicide; where to find help to support; and the importance of self-care. Faith presented for nearly four hours, difficult to summarise so much. She left folders of information which are available on the RAMHP website.
Faith left her contact details. If you are concerned about a mate’s mental health, you might contact her for guidance.
