Stephen Targett from the Narrandera Rotary Club presented at our Club this week informing us about the new D9705 Environmental Envoy Program of which he is a team member. Environmental Envoy Team Mission is to help the Rotary family understand and implement the new area of rotary of focus ‘Protecting the Environment’.

The new Environmental Envoy Program six areas of environmental focus, they being, biodiversity, circular economy, climate, food security systems, pollution and sustainability (sustainable living initiatives). This will have the benefit of protecting future generations, mental health and Club’s future.
The three steps for an environmental journey are, form a plan, develop a plan, implement the plan. Most Rotary clubs already incorporate an Environmental aspect to their projects with plantings.

Club Environment Representative (CER) roles are: liaise with Envoys and other club CER’s and to identify project opportunities. There are resources available including library and Facebook page for club Presidents and CER’s, offering ideas, club support, motivation, communication etc.
Clubs are also eligible Environmental awards which has three levels. Club runner now has an environmental section and CER’s have been added.
We all need to reduce our Carbon footprint, it is hoped there will be an app to assist available shortly, more detail will be made available in the future.

‘Adopt a Tree’ is a current district project and our very own Jennifer has details or you can visit the district 9705 environmental website here. https://rotary9705.org.au/page/protecting-the-environment/

Most Rotary Clubs are already helping the environment, however perhaps, more could be done. Many clubs have great initiatives that are helping the environment. These ideas will be passed around for clubs to consider and maybe adopt. If you have any questions or ideas or would like more information contact Stephen Targett, Environmental envoy on 0428 649 321.

I sound the same when you remove my third letter.
I sound the same when my last letter is removed and I sound the same when all three are removed.
