Carmel began by playing a YouTube clip by RI President Stephanie Urchick as she announced the 2024/25 Rotary Theme – The Magic of Rotary.
To watch: 
 
Carmel then set out her objectives for the year:
  •  More social events.
  • More vocational visits.
  • At least one out of town trip.
  • Nurture new members by ensuring they have a buddy that explains Rotary and makes them welcome.
  • Keep others engaged with Rotary – not necessarily as new members.
  • Create Friends of Rotary
  • Get to know our members better – a SHORT (5-minute max) talk each week by a member, giving an update on an aspect of their life.
  • Get going on our projects:
    • The Showground gates
    • The Rotunda – she wants it well underway over the next 12 months.
  • Carmel would particularly like to emphasize the fight against domestic violence.
    • Recycle old phones (even those old 3G ones).
  • A committee has been formed to scope out new shirts.
 
She then played a video on meetings – but it was decided that the Don’ts were OK, but the Do’s were a bit outdated.
 
Carmel then distributed a questionnaire to be filled out but the members. It had the following questions:
  •  Name (optional)
  • Age Range
  • What do you most like about our club?
  • What do you least like about our club?
  • If you could what is one thing you would change?
  • What do you want to see more of?
  • What do you want to see less of?
  • Any other comments?
    • Include ideas, suggestions, potential guest speakers, potential new members, site visits, meeting frequency, whatever ………

Sergeants Session – Greg Brown
 
 
Sergeant Greg reminded us that his job was to make as much money as possible – then proceeded to go about the task with vigour.
 Greg and Lyn attended the Yenda Changeover – it was at a new venue because the Yenda Diggers Club is now closed, and they now meet in the Pizzeria which has taken over the old squash courts.  The Yenda club makes most of its money from catering at the Carrathool Races. Greg suggests a vocational visit with the Yenda Club. He also highlighted the American Independence Day.
The raffle was won by Nicholas.
A good session and I am sure the Serge achieved the goal.

. Stories from Woop Woop
1.  The wife and I took a long, leisurely drive out to the country and pulled over to fill up our car's petrol tank and check the tyres... She was surprised to see that the station had a fee to fill the tyres and asked me, "Why in the world do they charge for AIR?!"
I responded, "Inflation."
2.  A tough old-timer from Woop Woop counselled his granddaughter that if she wanted to live a long life, the secret was to sprinkle a pinch of gunpowder on her oatmeal every morning.
The granddaughter did this religiously until the age of 103, when she died.
She left behind 14 children, 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren, and a gigantic hole where the crematorium used to be.
