Presidents’ Night
The meeting was an open forum for the Club before our changeover next week. President Carmel very capably and professionally ran her final meeting where she was able to command the floor and wield the gong.
Carmel presented an informal report of the year’s activities. Firstly, she read though her aims for the year and individually self-assessed whether they had been met. The list was significant and notably it would appear that she met more than 90-95 % of those goals. Congratulations Carmel! The report was finished with a thank you to each of her board members with a small personal message as she spoke of their roles. Carmel’s final assessment was her motto “Do when we can whatever we can!”
Carmel was asked what being president had changed in her life. The reply was that she had commenced the year being very nervous and “blubbery” for the first Rotary meeting and now has acquired a “Can Do” attitude and was able to chair a meeting of more than 100 people with confidence. It has also taught her that she can do all these activities as long as she has done the PREPARATION! Carmel also commented that she had read and listened to the feedback comments from members from the Club Assembly in July and brought about some new ideas including not the least the fines session.
From the floor there were comments from several members that congratulated and thanked Carmel for her role and her efforts. Bill Aliendi spoke of the fact that many members belonged to other organisations, so they brought with them an understanding of the role of running a good club and that Carmel was able to listen and receive the support of “good people”. George Weston reminded Carmel that being President of Rotary for him was the first stage of his pathway to DG and Mayor.

Sergeant Session – Greg Brown
Greg reminded us that Carmel had given everyone the leeway to create other formats for the Fines session. Greg announced that he is not a man with an imagination, so he was quite happy to dig into the week’s foibles of many members. Self-proclaimed fines were Brian Munro who had offered to usher at the Roxy for the boarding schools streaming of the “State of Origin”, turned up and found it to be cancelled, so went home to watch a Jane Austen serial! Peter Draper’s wife Erin is a Christmas Decoration addict and now that the Wades are downsizing, he has inherited all the decorations from Wades Pharmacy, and he will now need to get another container. Greg Brown finished his fines with a story that he is visiting the Nowra region to meet a second great grandchild and whilst in the area will visit HMAS Albatross where there is a military museum. It will bring him back to the fact that he was first taken there by helicopter 56 years ago!

Charity Golf Day
Sunday 22nd June turned out to be the perfect day for golf. Our rotary Club was responsible for providing the complimentary steak rolls for the hungry golfers.
A good array of members turned out to help Barry with the barbecue and many were happy to sit in the sun between the rush as a new set of golfers turned up to be fed.
Men at Work!
Congratulations to Barry for, once again, overseeing the well-oiled barbecue machine. Also, a big thank you to Linda for manning the drinks station.

Noisy Dogs
Arnav walks to school with his mum every day. When they pass the house next door, their young Doberman starts barking. Further up the street a small terrier growls. There are three poodles in the house on the corner that yap away. Arnav hates dogs and gets more and more nervous about going to school each day.
To make Arnav feel better, his dad decides to walk him to school. As they pass the Doberman it just lies down and stares at them. The terrier doesn’t even leave its kennel. When they get to the house on the corner the poodles don’t make a peep.
“Wow, Dad!” Arnav says. “How do you do it?”
“It’s simple,” Dad says. “I’m wearing my Hush Puppies!”
