Monique:

We remember Monique as a positive, proactive member of our club. She has continued that attitude in her involvement with Discovery Coast Rotary. She reported on the success of her Rotary Club’s involvement in the community with organising regular Market Days, a barbecue, and a donated wine cellar. Great to see you again, Monique.

Fines: Sargeant Marina organised a game of ‘Buzz’ that tested our quick-thinking skills (and hearing). Peter won! Good fun, Marina. Carmel won the lottery!

Greg promoted the Hume-and-Hovel-Trek in which member Andrew is participating this weekend. Greg showed us the timetable for Andrew’s walk, and how we can, as individuals, support walkers such as Andrew on the hume-and-hovel-trek.raiselysite.com

Andrew’s trek supports ‘Shelter Box Australia’ which provides emergency shelter for families who have lost their home to disaster. Shelter Box Australia believes Shelter is the foundation for life – for survival, stability and dignity. It offers a place to feel safe, stay together, stay healthy, earn a living and help children get an education.

Donations can be made through the website: shelterboxaustralia.org.au

Good on you, Andrew!

Story:

Dan, a visitor to a city, with little to do, saw an energetic crowd entering a large building, decided to join them. He took a seat in the crowd and saw a man, splendidly robed, standing at the front. The robed man was leading intensive chanting, music and “Glory Be”, claiming he could fix any problem.

The robed man halted the chanting and pointed to Dan asked if he had a problem that could be fixed. Dan said “Hearing”. The robed man invited Dan to the stage and sprang into action, leading the chanting in the crowd and sprinkling special water over the Dan’s ears.

Suddenly, the Robe stopped the crowd’s chanting, and asked Dan, “How is your hearing now?”

Dan said “I don’t know yet. My Hearing is next Wednesday.”
