Dinner at the Wade’s
We assembled at the Wade’s in Cypress St. for an evening of great food and a relaxed evening with good company.
The delicious lasagna was followed by a fruit and chocolate platter. The room looked spectacular and easily catered for the 15 guests.
Kerry not only avoided a duty as Sergeant but then won the raffle, so he was a double winner on the night.

Len and Annette Wade – PHF Sapphire Pins
Geoff took the opportune moment, with Len and Annette together, to nominate them each with a Paul Harriss Fellowship.
The citation is as follows:
‘Euroley born and raised, Len then worked and studied pharmacy in Sydney where he met Annette, a nurse for a doctor’s clinic.
After a period as a pharmacist in Tasmania, Len and Annette finally returned to Leeton where they set up their own business which they ran for several decades. Since selling the pharmacy, Len has continued to undertake a pharmacist locum role across southern NSW and Victoria – Coleambally, Lake Cargelligo, Balranald, Deniliquin, Barooga – allowing the locals to take leave and to maintain service to local communities. He even crossed the NSW / Victoria Border during COVID lockdown.
Len has been an Apexian and then a Rotarian. He has participated in most positions on the Rotary Club of Leeton Board – particularly as Treasurer over an extended period. He was also a Roxy Theatre committee member and is now a Roxy Volunteer.
Annette has been a stalwart member of both Inner Wheel and the Country Women’s Association.
Together Len and Annette have been exceptionally passionate supporters/advocates for Rotary Youth Exchange.
They have hosted 30 plus RYE Students – from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden – and have kept in contact with many, so they have a very much extended family around the world. They have visited quite a few of these students during their own overseas travels. Numerous exchange students, sometimes accompanied by their parents, have returned to Leeton to visit The Wades.
Rotary's core objectives revolve around service, leadership development, and promoting international understanding, goodwill, and peace. These are key to Len’s and Annette’s involvement in Rotary.’

Visit to the 100 Years of Rice Display
A few intrepid souls gathered at Peddler’s on Saturday morning for coffee before adjourning to the Museum to view the 100 years of rice display. Once again, it was a nice, relaxed, morning.

Peter Draper – Honorary Councillor of the RGA
Peter Draper was honoured for his service to the rice Industry by being named as an Honorary Councillor of the Ricegrowers' Association of Australia. This award was presented at the Conference dinner on Thursday evening (13th August).
While talking about the Conference, PP Carmel didn’t miss any opportunity to hob-nob with special guests Poh and Edwina Bartholomew, from Sunrise.

While he was away on business.
A wife being the romantic sort sent her husband a text " If you are sleeping send me your dreams. If you are laughing send me your smile. If you are eating send me a bite. If you are drinking send me a sip. If you are crying send me your tears. I love you!"
The husband, typically un-romantic, replied " I am on the toilet. Please advise."
