Dinner at the Brumfield’s
We were privileged to meet at the Brumfield residence for a very relaxed evening. We looked at Alan’s birds – even a couple of very young Indian Ringneck chicks. The we looked at his restored cars – including the Mazda and the Riley and then his mini steam engine.
This was followed by a beautiful meal of sausages – provided by Alan and salads courtesy of Jenny.
This was a wonderful visit – enjoyed by all. It was capped off with the presentation to Jenny of a magic Dan Special box.
A sincere thanks to Alan and Jenny for a great night marked by great food and wonderful hospitality.

Board meeting 22nd October at the Beecher’s
Jennifer is collecting good handbags, tote bags and back packs to donate to a Rotary Club in Melbourne so they can be filled and given to ‘Share the Dignity’ that supports homeless, or troubled females and those escaping domestic violence. Jennifer is going to Melbourne in a couple of weeks and can deliver donated bags. For information on Share the Dignity visit www.sharethedignity.org.au

Chill & Grill
We operated a barbecue at the Chill & Grill festival on Saturday 18th October. We assembled at 1.30 pm to kick start the barbecue. It was a beautiful day – if a little hot. Conditions improved when Matt supervised the relieving gazebo. Things were a little slow for the first part of the day but picked up a little around tea time. They never got as hectic as in past years.
I am particularly grateful to all Rotarians who helped on the day. We did not have to man the gates so probably had more helpers than needed. Thank you to Barry and Matt for the support early in the day and to Aaron and Peter for staying behind to help load up the BBQ van.
Also a big shout out to Monique Andreazza, Megan Carroll, Sarah Elliott, Carol Lewin and Mary-Anne Lattimore who all turned up to provide support.
Although it was a demanding day, we probably made around $790 for the project account.

Let us Give Thanks
During the service, the pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like to express thanks for prayers which had been answered.
A lady stood up and came forward.
She said, "I have a reason to thank the Lord. Two months ago, my husband, Jim, had a terrible bicycle wreck and his scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn't know if they could help him."
There was an audible gasp from the men in the congregation as they imagined the pain that poor Jim experienced.
She continued, "Jim was unable to hold me or the children and every move caused him terrible pain. We prayed as the doctors performed a delicate operation. They were able to piece together the crushed remnants of Jim's scrotum and wrap wire around it to hold it in place."
Again, the men in the congregation squirmed uncomfortably as they imagined the horrible surgery performed on Jim.
She continued, "Now, Jim is out of the hospital and the doctors say, with time, his scrotum should recover completely."
All the men sighed with relief.
The pastor rose and tentatively asked if any one else had anything to say.
A man stood up and walked slowly to the podium.
He said, "Hi, I'm Jim and I would like to tell my wife, the word is sternum.
