Crime & Punishment
I am referring to our last two meetings; one where the theme was the criminals of the early 20th Century in Australia, and the other where we heard in detail about the punishing exercise regime our friend Joe Briggs from Active Farmers, illustrated in great detail through his colourful storytelling.
Rob Houghton explained the concept of Active Farmers as a program that serves two main purposes - that of combatting the physical inactivity of farmers now that so much of the work is sedentary, and that of getting isolated people together to foster social connection and improve mental health outcomes. The mechanisation of agriculture had the unintended consequence of taking away both the physically active character of life on a farm, as well as the collective sense of community that a large on-farm workforce used to provide.
We applaud the work being done by Active Farmers and we were all amazed at the story of the inaugural fund raising bike ride, the Ride For Resilience, which took place this September. Underpinning the funny stories is a deeper story of strength in the face of adversity, and the kind of personal sacrifice that is required to achieve such an impressive fundraising goal cannot be understated.

Because I missed the Water Commission meeting shown in these following photos, I am just going to make it up.
The three on the left have formed a gang and claimed that side of the room as their territory. Note the aggressive body language and power stance. On the right, Monique's last desperate attempt to protect the kitty from the gang members, using her body weight to trap it under the bucket.
The club members and guests in both these frames were caught mid dance move - in fact the video version shows a graceful Waltz.
John has suddenly realised that he was eating the napkin, not the pizza, this whole time! Looks like Bob isn't going to let him live it down.
Breuer never did make a good gang member, but the others are too scared to tell him he's out.
When the Sheriff appears nobody will look him in the eye - a sure sign of a guilty conscience. Order is restored!
