Annual General Meeting
 
 
The apologies were noted and the minutes confirmed. The audited financial report was endorsed after some discussion.
 
Officers and Directors for the 2024/25 Rotary year were confirmed:
  •  President – Carmel Cristofaro
  • President Elect – Jennifer Newton OAM
  • Secretary and Executive Secretary – Brian Munro
  • Treasurer – Len Wade
  • Administrative Director – Matt Rhodes
  • Service Project Director – Graeme Kruger
  • Youth Service Director – George Weston
  • Foundation Director – Bruer Chiswell
  • Public Image Director – Laurie Lewin
  • Membership Director – Dan Cotter
 
Fate of the Rotunda
 
There was much discussion about the fate of the rotunda.  The Boards position was that the showground would be a cheaper option but there was an alternate view that there are ways to erect it in Rotary Park. The need for some urgency around the decision was also expressed as we need to get a grant to help defray the costs.
 
Eventually it was decided that a more detailed consideration of costs be pursued and that the final decision be made on 15th March, 2024.
 
Survey Results
 
The results of the survey on our Rotary Club were discussed. There were three major discussion points:
  •  Understanding of Rotary: There was a general feeling that we had only a fair understanding of Rotary and family and friends knew even less.  Some possible solutions –
    • Include a 5 minute section in the weekly meeting and publish this in the bulletin or on facebook
    • Summary of the history of the Leeton Club
    • A list of projects of the club to be publicised.
  • Club Priorities:  We need to consider what our priorities really are and garner membership support for these.
    • Encourage and promote diversity.
    • Publicise some of Rotary priorities and achievements at the Australia Day Breakfast :- polio, domestic violence.
  • Membership:  We need to develop better strategies for improving membership. The need to attract new members was understood but there was discussion about the ways to achieve this:
    • Establish a sub-committee to look at the issue.
    • The use of ‘friends of Rotary’, corporate membership and family membership were discussed.

Tea for two
One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get-well gift and it was one of my favourite toys.
Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mum came home.
My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was just the cutest thing!". My Mum waited and, sure enough, I came down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy. My mum watches him drink it up, and then she says (as only a mother would know):
Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?"
