The Rotary Youth Exchange is a youth program placing approximately 8,000 students worldwide each year.  Incoming students come from one of thirteen countries* participating with Rotary District 5520.  Outbound sudents are placed in one of the eight countries.  It is a country to country program open to high school students from the ages of 14 to 18 1/2.  It is for one academic year and provides students an opportunity to study in another country, to develop maturity, leadership skills, and to serve as a young ambassador.  A lot of the success of the program is attributed to the world-wide network of 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs of Rotarians who take responsibility for sponsoring these students.
The Las Cruces Rio Grande Rotary Club is always looking for interested outbound students and host parents for inbound students.  Usually three families trade off hosting for 3 - 4 months from August to June.  *(Countries participating: Austria, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan.)
