RYLA Helps Us All

Rio Grande Rotary Club is committed to several important causes - the "Dress the Child" Program, Habitat for Humanity, Dictionary Day and Mesilla Valley Hospice, to name a few. We're passionate about working within the community, but we'are also passionate about engaging with young people in our community, especially through the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) Program. How? We contribute funds so that young adults can attend the RYLA Leadership retreats, we help them get there, and our members have, over the years, participated in the week-long camp, serving as counselors, organizers and teachers.

Here's our Rotary club member, Carol Flinchbaugh, back row in a white hat, in the middle of things with her cabin of young leaders.

Here is one of several teams of boys and girls, working in unison to create food packages for those in need, as one of their camp projects.

To a person, everyone who participates with the camp comes back a changed person. And what's not to love? It's a lot of work, but you get to see young people come into their own while learning to work together.

If you'd like to learn more about RYLA, how to contribute, how to participate, or even how to spend an afternoon or a day visiting when the RYLA leadership retreat is taking place, let us know! We welcome any and all help.
