Dictorary Day Poem
Dictionary Day

Words are crucial to good communication,
And that is why, with great celebration,
Rio Grande Rotary takes on a vital mission
That has seen several years of repetition.
Each spring, to the 3rd graders in our town,
We promote the meaning of the verb and noun.
On Dictionary Day, as teams we go
To the elementary schools with great gusto.
Kids inscribe their names inside the cover.
They leaf through the pages and new words discover.
We then make Rotary manifest
By explaining our venerable Four-Way Test.
Is this project beneficial to all concerned?
Well, think of all the words that the kids have learned.
Does it promote goodwill? Indubitably.
And that’s the truth about the Day of Dictionary.
