On a bright Saturday morning at McAllister Park, the air filled with anticipation as Rotary District 5840 Governor, Monica Gutierrez, greeted members from Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, and Interact Clubs. The occasion? The much-awaited cleanup day, where our collective efforts would make a tangible difference.
Monica’s words resonated with purpose. She reminded us of the global impact that Rotarians create through their unwavering commitment to service. From local projects to international initiatives, Rotarians stand united in their mission to make the world a better place.
But it wasn’t just about litter cleanup and park maintenance. Monica’s message went deeper. She emphasized the need to protect our environment and waterways, recognizing that these precious resources transcend borders. As Rotarians, we play a vital role in safeguarding our planet for future generations.
And then, a poignant moment: mental health. Monica’s voice softened as she spoke about the importance of self-care. Amid our busy lives, the act of service becomes a lifeline—a way to nurture our well-being. Good work and community service, she reminded us, are not just about giving; they’re about replenishing our spirits.
As the day unfolded, the park buzzed with activity. Tacos fueled our energy as we tackled tasks—painting park benches, mulching trees, refreshing barrier posts, and diligently collecting trash. Each action, no matter how small, contributed to the larger tapestry of service.
The Rotary slogan, "Service Above Self" is not just a motto, it's a way of life that inspires us to put others first and make a positive impact in the world.
Let's strive to live by this principle and make a difference wherever we can!
As the service drew to a close, we knew: that today was a good day to be a Rotarian. 🌟
