Past District Governor and President-Elect Dwayne Hopkins presented his inspiring love of C.A.R.S. at the April 30th Club Meeting.
Dwayne used the acronym C. A.R. S. to provide an inspiring story at the April 30th Club Meeting. C. = Community, A. = All, R. = Rotarian, and S. = Stories.
Dwayne Hopkins is well known for his excellent public speaking skills. He presented some of his exciting life experiences with a Rotary twist.
Following a distinguished 29-year military career, he currently serves as the Executive Director/CEO of Fisher House Inc. In his current role, he supports Fisher House campuses at Lackland, Ft Sam, and the Audie Murphy VA Center, providing crucial support to military members and their families.
He ended by sharing a personal ballad, "Dream Lover."
Club Meeting Announcements:
- There will be no Club meeting on May 7th.
- The District Foundation Raffle is progressing successfully. John Paul Sullivan expects that Club 1907 will have 100% member participation. The raffle drawing will be held on June 1st at the district training meeting in Uvalde.
- Checks from the Club will be delivered to Jerry D. Allen Elementary School on Friday, May 3rd. They will be for headphones, library books, and teacher appreciation lunch meals.
- The District Installation dinner is on Saturday, June 26th. Club 1907 has reserved a table for eight members.
- Paula Haley reported that the Club 1907 Installation dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2nd. This evening meal will be at the Blue Skies of Texas Roadrunner Lounge.
- Dan Van Syoc reported that the Alzheimer's Research Project fund balance from split-the-pot raffle tickets is now $1,400.
- The next Club 1907 meeting is scheduled for May 23rd. The speakers will be Dan Van Syoc and Jane Hill, co-chairs of the Alzheimer's Research Project. They will give a report on the project's status.
- Meeting attendance was 70%, with three guests attending.
Dwayne and Jerry Hardy have been good "Rotary" friends for 16-17 years.
