Whatcom North Rotary Northwind September 10, 2009 MEETING TO ORDER: President Chuck Tull called the meeting to order at 12:30 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mel Hollinger gave the invocation. VISITING ROTARIANS: Shannon Terrell of Bellingham Bay Rotary GUESTS: None BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES: Nancy Tieman the 1st. Jerry Landcastle the 8th. Max Legg the 9th. Maureen McCarthy the 10th. Marlene Sexton the 10th. RETURNING ROTARIANS: None ANNOUNCMENTS: Sharon Robinson gave "A Rotary Foundation Thought of the Day", and reminded members to support The Foundation ! Chuck reminded all club members to buy more raffle tickets. He also presented Jim Bliss with a dinner gift certificate for winning last months "Improved Raffle". Mel needs a ride to the Charter Night Meeting for the new Surrey Club on September 18th. Larry Pollett announced the evening Visioning meeting scheduled for September 17, 2009 will be re-scheduled for an evening meeting sometime in November. This weeks meeting, the 17th, will be a noon meeting Bill Grace announced that new Rosters are on the tables with the first correction also being there. Dick Donahue announced there would be a Rotary Foundation meeting following the regular meeting today. Tony Cubellis reminded everyone of The Rotary Leadership Meeting in Mt.Vernon on the 24th of October. Ray George announced that his business "The Sign Post" will be holding an open house on September 29th from 3 to 7PM to celebrate 30 years in business. In addition to the open house there will be a raffle and barbeque. HAPPY BUCKS: The following people were happy: Bill G. was happy to get the Roster finished, also very happy about being married for 42 years. Tim V. for getting a new temporary office within walking distance of our meetings. Scott W. was happy about being married for 23 years. Randy C. was happy that Tim's new permanent office would allow to also make pizzas. Brian F. was happy about a boat trip to a Husky Football Game and being selected as a member of the Mount Baker Theater Board. Ray G. for being in business for 30 years. Stan B for being a Great Great Grandparent. Pete R. for a successful eight week boat trip. FINEMASTER: Max Legg filling in for Lex Ludtke. Max started off by fining Mel H. for his suspenders. Bill G. for some omissions in the new roster. All U. of W. fans were fined $1 Max fined Tyler and Paul for his Haggen bill being too large. Anyone with a roster picture more than three years old were fined. Maureen and Marlene for a birthday conspiracy. If you didn't watch some of the President's speech it cost you a dollar. Tim V. for his new office location. Banners: All the banner's names ended in "ton". PROGRAM: Tim V. introduced Tom Dorr of the Western Washington Center for Economic Vitality. Tom gave a very interesting talk about what they do. They provide small business advice at no cost. They served over 400 different businesses last year.
