Dale called the meeting to order at 12:30 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visiting Rotarians included Nancy Jordan from the Bellingham Club.
No Guests today.
Our sole Returning Rotarian was Jim Blaney who could secure a ride with Jake Smith. According to Jim, half way through the drive to Rotary, Jim suggested it might be better if he drove. None the less they arrived safely.
Announcements: Next week’s meeting is at Northwood Hall.

Jim Blaney’s Rotary Anniversary is May 1, 1980. Ferndale Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Wednesday 5/17.
YSA 5/18 at Northwood Hall. Our sponsor of the event is Industrial Credit Union and they will have a group attending the event.
Duck Race is a go and the producing of the tickets is underway for the 8/26 event in conjunction with the Ferndale Street fair. Prizes will be reduced from last year. $5K 2 x $1K and 2 X $500. 17 sponsors. 2500 $10.
Happy Bucks: Stan found out this last weekend that he had another great great grandchild bringing the total to 7.Bill was $5 glad he was inside and not outside with today’s weather. Sharon had a sad dollar that she would not be here for next week’s special YSA meeting. She’ll be attending a conference on school design. She was also happy about going through some old boxes of our rotary club history and finally she was very proud of her socks. Jennie was happy about a car she was driving today, although it was not convertible weather. Rollo was glad there were only six more days of his daughter’s college career. Jim sad about the weather. Nancy told us about the. Te’ Ti’ Sen center open house and seafood market having a grand opening June 3rd. Laurie had some baseball bucks as the Mariners beat Ken’s Phillies. Jim Blaney was happy about a recent family reunion with loads of relatives. Dale threw in some IOU bucks since he can’t find his wallet but he was happy about his Dad’s 80th birthday and getting doctor’s approval to drive again plus his sisters are visiting.
Fine Master: Rollo No pins $1, Not visited a park during the recent good weather, pay a buck. No Mariner game $1. If you didn’t bring in a corporate sponsor $2. If you drove a convertible today, you didn’t have to pay since the weather looks so terrible. Visiting Rotarian Nancy Jordan fined for being the last one in.

Program: Club assembly about Rotary Year 2017-18.
Need to re-vote on Slate of officers: Tim as President, Dale as Past President and President, Rollo as Treasurer and Sharon as Secretary. Directors include: Jake Laurie, Ken and Jennie Barnhart. MSA Slate of officers. Full effort of the board and the membership to make Rubber Duck Derby a success and as well as the longevity of the club. New members should result with our regular attending the Ferndale Chamber Luncheon. Laurie’s idea of championing individual organizations so they remember what we have done in the past for those organizations and how they could partner with us in the future.
2017-18 Budget and Financial Statement. See Dale’s slides. Efforts to reduce costs to individual members include reducing the number of meetings, bi monthly, and meal costs will go down with membership increases. Overall induvial meal expense will be less if the number of meetings is reduced.
Fines and Happy bucks could include a dollar for each year of marriage and club member’s birthday.
The Figures in the attached Power Point slides are based on 2 meetings a month versus weekly meetings.
These expenses will reduce proportionally based on increased club membership. Particularly businesses right within our backyard. Attract & Recruit. Be Seen and tell the Rotary Story
Sharon would like the club to be more involved in the Interact Club that was so helpful to our club at the Career Fair.
