MEETING TO ORDER: President Chuck called the meeting to order.
INVOCATION: Gary Snyder gave the invocation.
VISITING ROTARIANS: Graham Harris, New Zealand; Dan Mead Smith (speaker) Seattle Club #4, Wayne Langei, Bellingham, and Jeanne McGee, Mexico.
FOUNDATION MINUTE: Stan Brunner presented information about District Simplified Grants.
GUESTS: Graham's son Martin, Tim Yeoman, superintendent of Meridian School District, Marlene's daughter Allison, and Marlene's cousin Rocky.
BIRTHDAYS: Sharon, tomorrow.
ANNOUNCMENTS:
Visioning for the club, September 17th, evening meeting.
Board meeting on 9/3/09 at Zervas Group's Office.
Volunteers are needed to cover the Northwind in September.
The club has bought a hog. It seems a pig roast is in our future.
HAPPY BUCKS: Ken- for Golf Fun, Graham for his grandson's golf tournament- Please sign up! Dick D: for walking about 30 miles in San Diego. Tyler for a great BBQ at the Thulin's. Rich - for his son (Jerry's Grandson) being selected for the Husky Marching Band and invited to go to the Notre Dame Game. Tim C: Apology for not being here for the speaker and happy for Golf Fun, and that the Snyder's will be visiting for a dinner sold at our last auction. Addie for a 35-year anniversary. Jake for a 46 year anniversary. Gary Snyder, also a 46 year annivereary. Stan for a 66 year anniversary! Tim V: Even though he couldn't play, he had fun walking the course at Golf Fun. President Chuck: his daughter and granddaughter visiting. Ray - a thank you to Haggen for providing bottled water at the fair, and he is happy about buying five hogs.
FINEMASTER: Jack Curnow: Jack fined Brian just for being a pain, Scott Wallace for inventing the Wallace Rule, Tim for being late, even though he tried to pre-empt a fine, Jake, something about Cougs, Cheerleaders, and swine flu??? Sharon for whining about coffee addiction, Greg for refusing to help Pres. Chuck with the microphone. Gary Thomsic for lewd thoughts about our hog, Tyler and Paul because Haggen was mispronounced at the Safeco Field giveaway. Tim V. for losing his committee list, and Jerry for not sharing his grandson's news last week. Randy for outstanding IOU's.
BANNERS: Representing the East, West, North, and Southern most clubs in our collection. The banners ranged from Moscow, to New Delhi, to Seoul, to Fairbanks, Whitehorse, Jerusalem and somewhere in Chile and Argentina.
PROGRAM: Dan Smith from the Washington Policy Center. Dan talked about the center's non-partisan work in seven policy areas, but focused mainly on their recommendations for Health Care and Education.
