June 15, 2006

Meeting to Order:   President Scott called the meeting to order at 12:35pm ; Deb Wiggs provided the greeting in Swahili and then tried to jump straight to the invocation; realizing her error, Scott led us in the pledge of allegiance. Deb then provided the invocation.

Visiting Rotarians:   Marlene introduced the visiting and guest Rotarians: Ron Kelley from Mt. Baker ; Larry Zeals, Alan Pemberton and Peg Larson from the Bellingham Club; and George Tsakumis from Vancouver , BC .

Guest of Rotarians:   President Scott introduced his guest (for the last time), Cheryl Fisher.

Returning Rotarians:   Deb Wiggs returned fromvisiting a "virtual" club; she attended an email cyberspace Rotary Club.

Birthdays:   Jake Smith on June 13, 2006 ; Gary Tomsic on June 14, 2006 . Happy birthday to both!

Foundation Minute:  Today's minute didn't exist.

New Member Induction:   Cheryl Fischer officially became a member of our club today. Cheryl is a mortgage consultant with Wells Fargo Bank. She has been in the banking business for at least 15 years. Cheryl is married and has two boys. Welcome to the Club, Cheryl!

Announcements:  Bill Grace announced that the Roster is being updated; please review the information the committee has on each of you and make sure it is current and correct.  FYI, Bill and Sharon Robinson are the chairs of this committee so if you have changes please contact them.   June 30, 2006 is the last day to make a deductible donation to Rotary International.  Dick Donahue thanked, on behalf of Mel, everyone who attended Mel's birthday party/open house on Saturday.  Mel apparently was in the hospital having an angiogram so please keep him in your thoughts.  Suzie (from Northwood) raised $700 for Lydia Place , mostly from the donations of our club members. Tony Cubellis reminded everyone the installation of officers and directors will take place Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the regular lunch meeting and spouses are welcome.

Happy Bucks:   Gary is taking up golf; Bill G. had another bench ordered; Rich J. had $21 for his 21^st anniversary; Jerry L. welcomed our new member, Cheryl; Winton S. made a $500 donation on behalf of Western Roofing to the Metcalf Project; Greg I. had $28 for his 28^th anniversary; Gary T. had $36 for his 36^th anniversary, $53 for his 53^rd birthday and an extra $11 to make it an even $100 with all donated to the Metcalf Project; Bob B. thinking of Mel; Phil B. spent a week in Whistler with family; Adam Finfer is starting his own business, Brentwood Capital Group (good luck, Adam); Randy C. tried to make some excuse for his program scheduling issues; Cheryl Fischer happy at becoming a new member and excited to attend her son's kindergarten graduation; Tony C. welcomed our new member; Tim C. enjoyed Mel's open house and welcomed new member; Sharon welcomed our new member and was happy to have another female member; Deb Wiggs welcomed our new member and is going to Phoenix; Dan Parsons made a lot of politically incorrect statements which won't be repeated.

Finemaster:  Max Legg was today's finemaster and of course focused on the easy target of Parsons, after Parsons spouted off during happy bucks. All hockey fans (George T. only one to admit) fined for Stanley Cup play-offs; all stock brokers fined because it was a good day on the DOW ; Maureen hit for WTA's "Go" campaign, apparently WTA with all the bikes being carried on the front of the buses now has a freight forwarding business; Randy C. for UW and UM rivalry with patient; Bill G. had a shirt with what looked like hemp leaves printed on it; Cheryl had a new member welcome fine; Paul C. and George T. both had their cell phones go off (are they calling each other?); Jerry L. and Rich J. at the same table (nepotism?); Scott P. missed last week's meeting because of allergic reaction, also was trying to act like an accountant; Sharon R. has traded in running shoes for a bike; Winton parked his large truck in a compact spot; Deb Wiggs tried to greet the club and jump to the invocation before the pledge of allegiance; Adam F. wanted to make sure the bulletin had the correct name of his new company; George Scott hasn't been seen by Max for awhile, welcome; to Larry Zeal, we don't fine guests, but, say hello to Jim Anderson for us.

Program:   Nothing; no one quite explained what really happened with today's program, only that Randy Carr was in charge of the program scheduling and no one showed up.  

Drawing:  Dan Parsons had his number called, but did not draw the ace of spades. The pot grows bigger.
