Returning Rotarians: Rocky was returning from a trip to California, Jerry from a trip to NYC and Quebec, and Tim V. from trips to Romania and Iowa.
Announcements: 1) We received thank you notes from FFA and 4H (Marlene).
2) We will be planning trees at Hovander Park from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, October 23. This NSEA project is part of Make a Difference Day. Though gloves, tools and refreshments will be provided, Rick noted we should wear clothes (Rick).
3) Community Projects Committee will meet on Tuesday, 10/19 at 5:30 pm at Baron Communications Office (Rick).
4) Highway Clean Up is November 13.

Happy Bucks:
Marlene was just happy. Bill for a successful swap meet. Ken was sad for the floods forecasted this winter, and happy that Jon and his team at the County are ready to take them on. Jerry for two great Broadway productions on his trip to NYC. George was happy for his upcoming b-day. Brian for Monte and Flapjack, two of Ray George's goats.
Brian's wife hired the goats to tackle a landscaping job in their backyard. Tim V was happy to have Mark as his guest and for the garage sale. Rick invited the club to his upcoming swing band show.
He was happy for the recent press regarding WCNR's donations to several charities, for a great trip to Memphis, and for his wedding anniversary. Chuck was happy for a visit with his daughter and her family. Stan for a visit from his #3 daughter, Marlene, from Fairbanks. John will be away and he'll miss us. Paul was happy to be part of our "dysfunctional" club. Dick for his grandson's wedding and a trip to NYC. Rocky for the Giants' win. Jim S. was happy his wife was back in town (after having sole responsibility for their shih
tzu's). Maureen was sorry for missing the garage sale.
Finemaster: Greg Thulin. Paul was fined as a belated b-day gift.
Julie for being happy to see Brian and Lex, but no one else seated at Greg's table. Brian for not attempting to change a light bulb in his car and Chuck for his diatribe about the danger of changing light bulbs in your car. Maureen for looking a lot like someone who was talking on her cell phone while in a car. Ken for something to do with the Giants. Anyone who didn't bid on Greg's brisket bbq auction item was fined. Everyone who washes their jeans more than once per 6 months was fined, as were people who don't.
Banners: the 200th Anniversary of Oktoberfest in Munich (guessed correctly by Tim C).
Speaker: Dr. Gary Baker is the new Superintendant of Bellingham School District. He shared some of his early experiences as a teacher in Kotzebue, AK, including teaching Russian (a language he doesn't
speak) and coaching wrestling (a sport he'd never played). He also shared reflections on the economic challenges facing Bellingham schools and how he's interacting with staff, students and community members to help prioritize needs.
