MEETING TO ORDER:  President Tim Villhauer called the meeting to order at 12:30 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Pete Kremen gave the invocation.

 

VISITING ROTARIANS:   Bob Moles of the BellinghamBay Club. George Tsakumis of the Vancouver Club. John Moles of the Bellingham Club. Jeanne McGee of the Melque, Mexico Club.

 

GUESTS:  Wilson Troxel grandson and guest of Jim Bliss.

 

BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES:  Greg Thulin 3rd of June. Shirley Metcalf   4th  of June.    

 

RETURNING ROTARIANS:  Marlene Sexton from San Diego to attend her daughter's master's degree graduation.   

 

ANNOUNCMENTS:

 

Club Picnic ! June 13th at HovanderPark - Water tower Spot - 12 noon till whenever. The club will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers; members should bring deserts, salads or sides. This will be a family event, so bring the entire family. Tim has signed up for an alcohol permit so bring your own beer and wine if you want to.

 

Tim announced that Jack C. is sponsoring a hole at Golf-Fun.

 

Bill Grace announced that roster updates were available, pick one up !

He also mentioned that current pictures are needed for next year's roster. Jeanne McGee has offered to take a professional photo of members for a $50 donation to the club. Bill passed around a roster for members to up-date. Call or email Bill if you have corrections.

 

President Tim reminded members to turn in make-ups so the Club will get attendance credit with District.

 

Chuck T. is working on committees for next year, so let him know what you want or don't want to do.

 

HAPPY BUCKS:     The following people were happy:

 

Tim V. For J.A. Day presentation and for his Smuggler's Cove/Wine Tasting adventure he got at the auction.

Ken R. For J.A. Day.

Josh W. For a building permit for The Boy's and Girl's Club in Ferndale.

Bill G. For a successful car club event with 286 cars.

Jack C. For 21 3rd graders that he doesn't think will have any permanent damage after his J.A. presentation.

Greg T. For being out of his brace.

Paul C. For some parachute titles he is going to attempt.

Doug T. For something about reading glasses and some good rounds of golf in the great weather we are having.

Bob B. For Tim V. being able to make the meeting after his wine tasting trip.

Tim C. For the veterans in the club.

Scott W. For the J.A. board.

Maureen Mc. For Jack C. riding a bus, and for a visit with her Dad, and the new sculpture at the bus terminal.

Dan B. For winning the table pot twice.

Dick D. For his upcoming J.A. presentation.

Jim B. For his grandson visiting.

 

FINEMASTER:  Max Legg and Ken Richardson.

 

Anyone not wearing a Rotary Pin - $1

Paul C., Doug T., and Jake S. were fined for being late.

Scott W. Was fined a dollar to go with his four happy bucks to satisfy "The Wallace Rule".

Jim B. for signing in his grandson as a visiting Rotarian.

Anyone who was wearing a long sleeve shirt without a jacket, on such a nice day.

Anyone sitting at the same table as last week was fined $1.

Paul C. for holding the microphone too close.

Rome S. For taking two pork chops.

 

  Banners:  All the banners were "Red - White - Blue" for Memorial Day.

 

PROGRAM:  Pete K. introduced Joann Catin, Past President of the Assistance League of Bellingham. The league has 105 members, and last year more than 25,000 volunteer hours were worked locally. Nationally more than 2.6 million volunteer hours were worked, with a $36 million budget, helping 1.2 million children.  

 

 

DRAWING:   Yours truly had the winning ticket this week and I drew the Ace of Spades !
