MEETING TO ORDER: President Elect Laurie Lloyd called the meeting to order at 12:30 with Maureen McCarthy giving the invocation.

Tim Villhauer introduced his assistant, Tracy. Stan and Rocky were joined by their wives, Margaret and Sylvia.

BIRTHDAYS:
No birthdays, and on the anniversary front, Bill Grace will celebrate his 25th Rotary member anniversary on May 26th.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
· The District 50/50 hike to Oyster Dome is scheduled for July 14.
· District 50/50 is looking for GSE members to go to New Zealand; requirement is that you are between the ages of 25-40.
· Bellingham and Bellingham Bay Rotary Clubs are working together on a “Rotoract” project and looking for participation from our club.
· The International Projects team meeting will be held at Julie’s office on Tuesday 5/29 at 5:30 p.m.
· The Fellowship picnic is scheduled for June 14 at Hovander Park to start around 5:00 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers and vegetarian burgers will be provided. Members are asked to bring a side dish to share. There are sign-up sheets on the website. Please note that our regular meeting that day is cancelled.
· The Duck Derby is planned for August 26. Every member will be assigned a job by Ken Richardson. Raffle tickets will be distributed at next week’s meeting.
· The Boulevard Park Car Show is scheduled on Ski to Sea race day.
· HAPPY BUCKS:
· Maureen was happy to see Stan back and is looking forward to the long weekend visiting with her 2 year old nephew
· Jeanne was pleased to be showing her photography art and having a beer at Chuckanut Brewery.
· Tim Carpenter was also happy to see Stan, sorry he didn’t help clean up on Saturday, but after a long story about golf and other activities, admitted to winning a bunch of money over the weekend, someone which de donated to the happy bucks pool.
· Rollo is looking forward to the extra-long weekend visiting the Willamette Valley.
· Stan was happy just to be able to be at the meeting today.
· Jim Sands celebrated himself and several fellow Rotarians all from the 1966 class of Bellingham High School.
· Marlene told everyone she had a great time participating in clean-up day.
· Win, as chair of the Scottish Rite Scholarship funded was really happy to have just awarded $250,000 to students.
· Norm was happy that Ken graduated from High School (Ken is part of the class of ’66)
· Tim V was happy that Stan and Margaret came to the meeting today and enjoyed participating in the road clean up.
· Scott was happy to see Stan and promises to be kinder to his new badge.
FINEMASTER: Greg Thulin collected quite a bit of our money with these highlights:
· Tyler paid for rapping at Meridian Haggen to sell deli items
· Those who have stock or bank accounts at Chase Bank
· Any bankers
· Those who purchased Facebook stock
· Financial planners
· Anyone who tried washing their child in a washing machine
· Anyone who has used a babysitter in the last 2 months
· In respect of the building the 520 bridge, all contractors paid to enforce no drinking beer on the job
· If you did not attend Junior Ski to Sea parade
· If you are not planning to attend this weekend’s Ski to Sea parade
· If you aren’t participating in the Ski to Sea race on Sunday
· If you are leaving town this weekend instead of going to those activities
· If you are having a Ski to Sea party and did not invite Greg
· If you have received a speeding ticket in the last year
· If you have a radar detector in your car
· If you haven’t bought Greg’s birthday present yet (there’s still time)

PROGRAM:
Kelli Linville, Mayor of Bellingham gave an update on her first five months in office. Some of the major highlights are as follows:
· Working on repairing relations with the Port of Bellingham, Sewer and Water District and the county
· Recommending Medic One staying together based on cost and quality with a resolution on early June
There are 18 months left to access the $25M matching grant for waterfront redevelopment. A public meeting is planned for September and a full plan ready in the fall. Some of the things they are working on:
o Clean-up
o Access
o Must demonstrate revenue producing potential
· Lake Whatcom Executive Committee is re-engaged after two years and working on joint plan to protect the lake
· City-wide budget and work plan is under development
Kelly’s one promise she made when elected was to open the doors of City Hall. She is happy to report that the barriers are gone, there are no more locks on the doors and receptionists present at the front door. Not only is this a satisfier for all and allows more access, but it actually saves money!
Kelli says she was happy to make the switch from legislator (creating policies) to Mayor where she can implement policies.
