MEETING TO ORDER: President Marlene called the meeting to order at 12:30. 
 
GUESTS:  Jim Sands guest of Ken Richardson
 
VISITING ROTARIANS:  Jim Blaney,  from East Polk Iowa, Hal Hofer, George Tskumis.
 
BIRTHDAYS:  None
 
RETURNING ROTARIANS:  Tim V. is back from a trip to Iowa City, Iowa.  Jerry Landcastle was on a two week cruise in Europe with his wife, daughter and granddaughter.  Marlene has been to Whatsonville.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1.  A thank you card was received from Samara Sytsma for the Youth Service Scholarship.
2.  Jack Curnow has resigned from the club due to his new Florida residence requiring his time.
3.  District Conference scheduled for May 5-8, 2011, in Harrison Hot Springs.  International Conference will be in New Orleans, May 21-25. 
4.  We will be donating $2,500 toward the completion of the Hospice House, which is scheduled to open in September.

Bill - for the roof going on his addition.  George - wishing Marlene a good presidential year.  Julie - $20 for missing the induction dinner,  but RI Convention in Motreal was FABulous.  Winton - happy for the start of a new Rotary year.  Tim V. - the same.  Rocky - six year old grandson's achievement -of what I am not sure.  Gary T.: Thanks for the fishing net, he hopes to use it soon.  Rick S., - trip to Idaho, Laurie, for having her grandson as a "slave."  Dick D., for the Cougar Legends trip in the Queen Charlottes, and Doug for a very large halibut.
 
Larry was glad for the new year, and friends visiting over the fourth.  Paul Cooley, for the good weather and his wife's dedication (??).  Randy for a fresh scent.. Tim Carpenter for the new year.  We may have fewer members, but they are all dedicated and involved members, and he's enthused about what we
can do in the future as a club.
 
Chuck was especially happy to have Marlene as president and also that we have no "phantom eaters,"  i.e. paying for plates we're not using.  Jake was happy about the cougars, and noted that Doug's halibut was probably larger than some of the WSC linemen.
 
FINEMASTER:  Greg Thulin
Rome was last one in.  Randy for being on Facebook too much, Brian for making Greg feel young.  Marlene for not being home on the island when Greg came to visit.  Laurie for playing Frontierville on Facebook.  Everyone who wore long sleeves.  Everyone who complained about the heat.  Everyone who's working tomorrow.  Everyone with an air conditioned office.  Randy for paying Brian's fines.  Anyone in the financial industry.
 
BANNERS:  Sumer is icumin in,  or "The Cuckoo Song,"  a traditional old English poem or song about spring. (I got it, anyway). Also the 80 year anniversary of the Hoover Dam. 
 
SPECIAL EVENTS:  We celebrated the induction of our first new member of the Rotary Year, Jonathan Hutchins. He hails from the NORTH end of Lummi Island, Welcome to the club Jon!
 
Tim Villhauer announced perfect attendance pins and handed them out to people who missed the Induction Dinner.  Laurie 2 yrs., Randy 2 yrs., Marlene 5 yrs., Tony and Tim V., 9 yrs., Ken 11 yrs., Tim C. 13 yrs., Bill 23 yrs., Gary S. 26 yrs., Jim Bliss 33 yrs., Dick Donahue 35 yrs., Stan 35 yrs., and Mel 38 yrs. 
 
PROGRAM:  Program for the day was a Club Assembly. 
 
Julie Johansen presented Club finances.  She reviewed the available funds for projects, and the planned budget for the next two months. She noted the differences between Club Funds and Foundation Funds.   She also noted that the foundation currently owns a piece of real estate in Birch Bay which was donated to the club by Mel.   More details are available in the financial report.
 
She spoke about ideas from the convention including sponsoring and Ambassadorial Scholar.  The current RI president Ray Klinginsmith was one, and was motivated to be a great Rotarian for the next 50 years. 
 
Tim Villhauer and Rocky Richardson are Co-chairs for Fundraising this year.  Tim demonstrated that the committee is going to get an early start this year.  They tentatively plan for an auction event in March, and possibly another event prior to that.  We still have an active raffle license and so could do a separate raffle before the auction. 
 
Tony Cubellis reminded everyone that we still get cash for cellphones.
 
Marlene discussed the project committees, and explained that the Community Projects and International Projects committees will be separated this year.

She also noted that we are lacking a President Elect this year, and really need someone to step into that position soon, so they have time to get oriented before next year.
