Call to Order: President Dale called his first official meeting to order and lead us in the flag salute.
Invocation: Deb Wiggs provided the invocation.
Visiting Rotarians: Nancy Jordan (B’ham club) Welcome!
Guests: Stan was accompanied by his son, Donald (who is moving back to Ferndale!) Nancy brought her guest, Marcus Morris.
Returning Rotarians: None
Announcements: Dale announced he is the new club President. He also stated there will be no lunch meeting next week, July 21st. Instead we will be meeting at the Bellwether around 5:00, (Could be 5:30, see the emails for more info.) Sharon provided the “thermometer” indicating where we are in the Duck Ticket sales. We only have one month left, so start selling!! Pati has a sign-up sheet to sell at Hovander Park during the Old Settlers Picnic. We will have a booth right by the entrance at the Old Pavilion Bldg. This will take place on July 30th. Eric will have a booth at the fair where we can also sell tickets. See him for details. Dale shared a “Thank You” form Joshua Linbloom, one of our YSA students. Julie announced she is sending out the invoices for dues and meals. You can pay meals quarterly, ($120,) semi-annually, or annually.
Happy Bucks: Dale is happy to be President. He is also happy his father is at home in White Rock and he is getting better and looking forward to driving again. Stan had sad bucks for the passing of community leader, Don McKay, who was a charter member of our club. Stan also explained the connection between that McKay family and his daughter’s. (The close friendship goes back several generations.) Bill was $10.00 happy for the good job Sharon did last year as well as looking forward to Dale’s Presidency. He was also happy he will host his family at the Elks Club breakfast. Pati and Julie both had happy bucks to welcome Dale to the helm. Deb was happy for her father’s visit and the trip down memory lane involving Mt. Vernon Rotary Club. Eric was happy his mother is doing well and that he is glad to be home. Jake had sad bucks, announcing that past member, Lynn Seeley’s wife had died. Marlene was happy for Sharon’s good job as President and Dale’s upcoming year. Rocky was happy for 2 weeks in CA and happy to be home. Ken was happy for Sharon and Dale and a good 4th of July at Birch Bay with family. Jim S. is happy that everyone is great and Sharon had happy bucks to welcome Dale. Tim had bucks for Sharon and Dale and a good day of zip-lining on Camano Island, which he claims is safer that the zip-line in Mexico. Nancy had sad bucks for the community losses, but happy that so much knowledge has been passed on. She also was appreciative for her guest, Marcus.
Finemaster: Tim took on this awesome duty and started out with the usual fine of $1 for not wearing a Rotary pin. He also fined anyone who did not give happy bucks, as everyone should be happy about something. Rocky, Ken, and Marlene were fined out of Tim’s jealousy of not belonging to such an amazing family. (At least, that is what I heard him say.) Pati was fined for “always whining” about not being fined. Dale was fined his first Presidential fine. Although, we never fine guests, Don was fined as an anticipated member of the club. Julie was grinning about something, so that cost her a dollar. Laurie was fined for checking the stock market on her phone. Tim then opened it up to “active participation” and was fined $2 by Marlene. ($1 for his passive/aggressive remarks and $1 for interrupting Marlene.) He then fined everyone who did not fine someone.

Program: Today’s program was a club assembly and the theme was to REENERGIZE, (Rebuild, Refresh, and Revive.) Dale offered his plan for moving forward. One of our big pushes this year will to be to increase membership. EVERYONE is to think of an individual to bring into the club and strategies regarding this were discussed. Dale wants to hear members’ thoughts on this and we discussed a Leadership Task Force, consisting of 6 members. Dale reminded us it takes effort on EVERYBODY’S part to build a solid club. The future of the club is bright, but we need to put energy into growing it. The focus will be on what we can do, NOT on what we can’t. Lots of good ideas were shared and it is important that every member of the club becomes active, we cannot think someone else will take care of things. Dale suggested we read the article in the new Rotarian magazine entitled; “Reasons to love Rotary.”
Drawing: Dale won the door prize which was a candle donated by Stan’s daughter, Jakie and Stan won the screwdriver set, but not the jackpot, which is now over $1,000!!
