MEETING TO ORDER:  President Chuck Tull called the meeting to order at 12:30 and Tony Cubellis gave the invocation.

 

VISITING ROTARIANS:

BIRTHDAYS:  none

 

RETURNING ROTARIANS:  Rome-just returned from a trip to Wisconsin where there was a foot of snow on the ground and the warmest temp was 28 degrees.

 

FOUNDATION MINUTE:  In an impromptu minute,Tim Carpenter talked about the Super Bowl game board to benefit the foundation.  The cost is $5/square.

 

ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

Membership unanimously elected all officers and directors as listed on the election ballot for Rotary Year July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. (No voting necessary for President, Marlene Sexton and Past President, Chuck Tull.

·          Treasurer:  Julie Johansen

·          Directors:  Dan Parsons, Maureen McCarthy, Laurie Lloyd, Tim Carpenter and Jake Smith

 

ACCOUNCEMENTS:

  • Thank you for the donation from the Literacy Council
  • We will take up a collection for Haiti for at least 1 month, with the plan of sending the money to the Rotary in Port-au-Prince or Bob Moles' Clearwater project
  • The group study program is still looking for 2-3 homes to host our guests May 26-31.  See Paul Cooley for more details.
  • Training will be conducted January 30 in Langley for new Rotary leaders. Check in with Larry Pollett for details.
  • Upcoming Auction details and needs are as follows:
    • Date and time:  Friday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m.
    • Location:  Bellingham Golf and Country Club
    • Theme:  Wine and travel
    • Cost for dinner tickets:  $75
    • Due date for donations:  February 26
    • Commitments still needed:  for table captains and donation items
    • Beneficiaries: Human Society, Literacy Council, 4H-FFA groups

 

HAPPY BUCKS/FINEMASTER:  In lieu of Happy Bucks and Finemaster collection, the box was passed for everyone to contribute $5 to the Haiti relief fund.

 

BANNERS:  none

 

PROGRAM:   General club assembly followed as a continuation of the Board Meeting that started at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the ongoing potential change in meeting location.  The club members were given additional opportunity to comment.  It was noted that Northwood is willing to negotiate their cost although the main issue is meeting location with food being secondary. After considerable discussion a vote was put before the membership present resulting in a 26 to 7 favorable vote to stay in Bellingham as opposed to moving the club to Ferndale.  The Board then moved to a vote rejecting the proposal to move the Club to Ferndale and approved the club remaining in Bellingham. 

 

Question:  Club in Club is scheduled for February 12, should it go forward as planned?  The Membership Committee will meet, make a decision and forward to the Board.
