MEETING TO ORDER: President Marlene called the meeting to order at 12:30. Gary Tomsic gave the invocation.
VISITING ROTARIANS: George Tskumis, from Vancouver, Peter Self, and Assistant District Governor Scott Dudley, our speaker.
GUESTS of ROTRARIANS: None
BIRTHDAYS: None this week.
RETURNING ROTARIANS: Bill Grace and Tim Villhauer both returned from Hawaii, but they had to come to Rotary to say Aloha to each other. Marlene is back from sunny warm San Diego, where she had a margarita for each of us. The first day.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Norm reminded everyone about auction items.
2. Don't forget the upcoming fellowship event and the solution for everyone's "Valentine's Day Problem" - a Valentine's Dance on Saturday, February 12th, at the Beacon Ballroom.7 - 11 pm. Price will be $10 per person or $20 per couple. Gailen Ludtke and the Lug Nuts is the band, they are great!
3. Bowling is now scheduled for Feb. 28, at the Park Bowl.

HAPPY BUCKS: Bill was happy for two weeks in Hawaii, Tim too, although he had to take a short detour to Portland on the way. Scott is back from Phoenix, and Dick from New York. Marlene and Sharon are happy about going to Honduras next week. Laurie is happy for the RLI event she attended, and for those going to Honduras.
FINEMASTER: Scott Wallace was gentle on us this week, though he did fine some guests for wearing ties. He tried with limited success to collect on IOU's - those who were not there to pay had a dollar added on: Randy, Tyler, Jake, Rome..
Pete is running for re-election! No fine, just congrats or condolences.
Anyone associated with the City parks pond, or with cities in general was fined. Texting while driving automatic $10 fine. Ray was fined for not being happy with his duck hunting. Finnegan and Richardson fined on principal. Anyone having too many cookies fined. Scott was going to be tactful, and Maureen was going to get off the hook for embarrassing news about a particular bus driver, but her fellow Rotarians ratted her out.
BANNERS: This was a fun one, Stan tested our knowledge of history again. In keeping with the Aloha theme, the banners spell out Capt. Cook, and as an added hint the date 1778 was given. On this date in 1778 Cook "discovered" the Hawaiian Islands, then called the Sandwich Islands.
PROGRAM: ADG Scott Dudly gave a talk on the membership process, finding them, bringing them in, and keeping them interested. He mentioned lots of the things our club has already done right, and gave some good ideas that we could implement: Mentorship, Communication (website, Facebook, etc.). He suggested looking for potential members at Chamber and other business events, such as Business After Business. He also suggested doing collaborative projects with other service clubs in the area.
We have lots of ideas to work with now, thanks Scott!
DRAWING: Sharon resorted to trying to buy out all the tickets, and was rewarded by having her number drawn, but could only pull the Eight of Diamonds. So much for that strategy!
