Announcements. Tim V. Wine event appears to have netted $900 and a great time was had by all. Wine will be delivered on Feb 9, so bring an appropriately sized vehicle.

Laurie shared inspiring update regarding progress made in ending polio. Said our district is a leader (top ten in the world?) in Polio Plus fundraising.
Pete R. There will be a Career Fair meeting after the meeting today.
Dale Holt officially returned to WCNR after a brief time away. Glad to have you back, Dale!
Happy Bucks. Norm was happy to have survived the winter weather, glad to have Dale back. Bill was happy for news re: polio, as Kris’ sister is a polio survivor. Rollo was happy for snowmobiling. Dale was happy to be back. Brian was happy and sad because he doesn’t love snow anymore. Maureen was happy she could take the bus to work every day, and proud of how bus drivers handled the nasty conditions. Wyn is looking for potential applicants for the Scottish Rites scholarship. Scott was happy for the Rotarian Goose Hunt. Tim V. apologized to our speaker, Dennis Boyd, for not being here to greet him when he arrived. Laurie was happy to have Dennis with us.
Finemaster Ken Richardson: The following folks were fined: Tim V for arriving after one of his guests. Anyone who did NOT opt to stay home (rather than drive) at some point this week. Dale, as a “welcome back.” Anyone who does not or has not worked for public works, public transportation, utilities, etc. and who didn’t give happy bucks for the work of such people during adverse weather. Anyone who had a fender bender since the snow came. Jake for being 30 minutes early last week and 30 late this week. Anyone who recently hit “reply all” to a Rotary email. Anyone with an email signature longer than most emails they ever send.

Speaker. Our speaker today was Denis Boyd. Denis joined rotary in 1996. Over the past 15 years, he has served as Coquitlam Club President, 5050 Assistant District Governor, District Trainer and (currently) Dean of the Rotary Leadership Institute. He will be our District Governor in 2013-2014.
Denis explained the differences between Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation and highlighted upcoming training opportunities through Rotary Leadership Institute.
He also shared Rotary International’s expectations of local clubs:
1) To attract and retain new members
2) To complete local and international projects
3) To contribute to the Rotary Foundation
4) To supply leadership to the district
