MEETING TO ORDER: President-elect Gary Tomsic called the meeting to order at 12:30. Sharon Robinson gave the invocation.
VISITING ROTARIANS: George Tskumis, Vancouver and our Program presenters, Dave Cross and Dick Irwin from the Burlington Morning club.
GUESTS: None
BIRTHDAYS: Bill Grace, January 18th.
RETURNING ROTARIANS: None.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Norm reminded everyone about auction items.
2. He also announced an upcoming fellowship event and the solution for everyone's "Valentine's Day Problem" - a Valentine's Dance on Saturday, February 12th, at the Beacon Ballroom. Rumor is the band has a really cute drummer. Price will be $10 per person or $20 per couple.
3. Tyler announced that the Career fair will be March 31st.

HAPPY BUCKS: Jerry started off by announcing that Trisha Peterson, wife of Brad Peterson brought a check for $57.00 in honor of Brad. Jerry himself was happy for some travel, to Chicago and Palm Springs. Brian was ahppy for San Diego trip and Huskies, and Seahawks. wait a minute, is this last week's Northwind??? Rick Staeb is happy about the dance and the Seahawks. Norm gave $5 because he has to scoot. Dick was very happy that he's survived the dreaded sinus surgery with none of the predicted paint. Jake put in a happy buck on behalf of Bill Grace so that Bill's streak of consecutive bucks would not be broken. Jim Sands gave bucks for his friends who recently relocated to Brisbane and have not had a lot of flood damage. Also he was happy about the new Western Woofing ad he just heard. Ken is happy he doesn't have the Emergency Management job in Brisbane. George wished everyone a Happy New Year, and shared his gratitude for the wonderful place we all live in. Larry was happy to have been able to "borrow" a Ford Mustang for the holiday season. Max told us a little more about his trip to take care of his mom, and said that he was glad to have been able to take her back to Annapolis where his dad is also buried.
FINEMASTER: Then Max got up and proceeded to fine us all - Gary for messing up on our guests' names, Randy for chin hair, Sharon and Melanie for trying not to get fined. Paul for finking on Max who was buying baby food for his dog. What happens at Haggen should STAY at Haggen! Jim B. and Jake were fined for ridiculously yellow jackets. Jake was fined for attending the "Senior Bowl." Is that anything like a senior moment. Ken was fined for all the grief he must have caused his mother, to make her require professional laughter training. .
BANNERS: The banners were from all the cities that we have starting with A. At this rate Stan could have an easy go of it for 25 more weeks this year!
PROGRAM: Our speaker was Dick Irwin from the Burlington Morning club, along with Dave Cross. Dick and Dave have undertaken to put on a fantastic musical production in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11. There will be a musical piece premiered that has been composed specifically for this event, as well as bagpipe bands, brass bands, orchestras, choir, and an auction of some original art. RI President Ray Klinginsmith will make an appearance at some of the performances. They will use the funds raised to provide Rotary scholarships for International Studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution, and a Fire Protection Technology Program at Skagit Valley College. Rotarians can volunteer to participate or help in many ways, and to financially support the program.
