MEETING TO ORDER:  Gary Tomsic playing the role of Honduras traveler President Marlene Sexton called the meeting to order at 12:30 with Winton Smith giving the invocation.

ACCOUNCEMENTS:

·          Bowling Event, Monday February 28; more information and time of event to come

·          Upcoming plans for the auction will be discussed at the February 3rd meeting; bring donations for the wine & beer drive to the meetings

·          Valentine's dance is scheduled for February 12 @ 7:00 p.m. at the Dakota Creek Church and the cost is $20/couple.

·          Be sure to watch ABC World News tomorrow evening, 1/28, for the Gates Foundation polio story.  A webcast of world experts on polio will be aired on January 31 @ 12:30pm.

 

HAPPY BUCKS:

·          Greg Thulin-wished everyone a Happy New Year and told of his trip last week to Las Vegas where he met Josh Wilund on the street (they considered it a make up!)

·          Tim Villhauer-reported on a great fund raising meeting and all the great work by Norm.

·          Randy Carr-his birthday is coming up and he was super happy to was that he was finally able to take advantage of the Oyster dinner donated by Dan Baker at last year's auction

·          Winton Smith-reported he was sad about recently losing his dog, but that he is now looking for a new puppy.

·          Bill Grace-showed a picture of Humuhumunukumukuapuaa that he successfully pronounced last week

·          Josh Wilund-had $10 IOU bucks for having a good time and good outcomes while in Las Vegas. (How good did you really do, Josh?) He also was very happy that Alcoa recently hired 80 employees

·          Pete Ruese-shared that he has been "replacing body parts" and plans to have his shoulder done in February.

·          Laurie LLoyd-is happy Bill can now pronounce Humuhumunukumukuapuaa and that we've had two days in a row without rain.

·          Greg Tomsic-reported that he inadvertently left his wallet on a table and was lucky enough to get it back today.

 

 

FINEMASTER:  Tyler collected quite a bit of our money with these highlights:

·          Gary Tomsic self-reported to the fine master and paid before Tyler could fine him for calling Tyler Josh

·          If you were on the fundraising committee but did not attend meetings

·          If you never got a career fair speaker or attended a career fair

·          It's chocolate week, so if you weren't planning to eat chocolate-pay

·          If you ever did any teenage pranks and one extra dollar if your prank did not make the news

·          Did not take advantage of yesterday's sun

·          Tried the laughing exercises we recently learned and sounded ridiculous pay $1; but if you didn't try the exercises at all, then pay $2

·          Randy Carr paid for creeping Tyler out with his goatee and mustache

·          If you don't watch Tyler's favorite shows (all comedies and I never heard of a few of them)

·          If you have a smart phone but are not smart enough to use it

·          If you did not wear a blue shirt for blue shirt day

 

 

BANNERS:  Flag Theme will all banners composed offlags flying from a pole or hanging on a chair.

 

PROGRAM: Laurie introduced Julia Bozzo, founder/operator of NW Therapeutic Riding Center (NWTRC) who shared information about her organization that works with people of all ages and disabilities.  A video was presented that described the therapeutic work and featured several riders.  Fundraising and volunteers support the program and the care for its horses.  The program gives people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of horseback riding at a cost they can afford.  NWTRC is dedicated to enriching the physical, mental, emotional and social well being of the riders and their families in a safe, nurturing, challenging and fun environment.  A parent of one of the riders shared the personal story of "Madison," his 18 year old daughter who just had the "best year of her life" due in large part to the activities and the presence of a "special someone"-Jordan, her horse. 

 

Julia offered her gratitude for our Club's time and monetary support.  She described her 20 years of service in this worthwhile endeavor.  It has been a difficult year financially and they need our help to make the program sustainable.
