MEETING TO ORDER: President Tim Villhauer called the meeting to order at 12:30 and Whatcom County Executive Pete Kremen gave the invocation.
VISITING ROTARIANS:George Tsakumis from Vancouver, B.C.
GUESTS: Jerry Lancaster introduced the Ferndale police chief, Mike; Tim Villhauer invited his friend Derrick; Ray George introduced his friend, Loren and Stan Brunner introduced his sweetheart, Margaret and surprised her with flowers.
BIRTHDAYS: Jim Anderson on Feb15 and Bob Bowman on Feb 17

ACCOUNCEMENTS:
1. March 21, 8:30-4:00, Hampton Inn: Literacy Training
2. Upcoming Career Fair --56 presenters are needed. Sign up by April 2. Keynote has been secured: Steve Oswald
3. Sign up to build picnic tables for Meridian HS. 15 volunteers are needed on February 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
4. Request for instrument donations to Meridian School band. Most critical need is music stands, tuba, trombone, baritone, base drum, snare drum, saxophone, clarinet and several others. For more information or to donate call Rome at 371-2888.
5. An Auction is planned for the first part of May and volunteers are needed; Brian Finnegan is lead. Venue to be determined
6. Gary Tomsic tried to auction ski package but failed to get opening bid of $500
7. Tim Villhauer read the results of the location poll: 26% of members want to go north and 74% want to stay at Northwood Hall. If the location was moved North. 57% would continue with our club in the new location and 43% said they would quit.

FINEMASTER: Randy Carr was this week's fine master.

Wallace rule in effect (poor Scott paid)
Group fines were levied for all those: in band in High school, if you haven't purchased Valentine's Day gifts yet, if don't have good college basketball team, if you haven't signed up for Career Fair.
We all had to pay Scott Wallace (the bank) $1 because of the Obama bucks and then Scott offered us all loans.
Jake paid for making fun of Larry Pollett when he was not there

BANNERS: Australian in memory of recent fire tragedy; hearts and flowers for Valentine's Day (and special dance program from Stand and Margaret first college dance) and President's Day.
PROGRAM: The guest speaker was Mr. Joe Ruton, County Engineer who briefed us on the latest issues regarding recent flooding in the county. Joe reported that the rivers were high for days following the recent flooding with high snow melts and numerous mud slides. Damage to county roads and levies is estimated at to be $4.5-5 million. He indicated that FEMA money may be available for reimbursement of 75-80% of damage costs. Joe shared a slide show of photographs taken during the flood showing washed out roads and bridges and other property damage. DRAWING: Lex Ludke drew of the Jack of Spades
