Whatcom North Rotary Northwind April 8th, 2010 MEETING TO ORDER: President Chuck Tull called the meeting to order at 12:30 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Gary Snyder gave the invocation. VISITING ROTARIANS: Bill Kirby of Carson City, NV GUESTS: Megan wife of Norman Vigre and Kirk Morgan guest of Tyler Cook. BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES: None ? RETURNING ROTARIANS: None. ROTARY FOUNDATION MOMENT: Ken R. talked about saving people's eyesight. ANNOUNCMENTS: President Chuck wants everyone to work harder at keeping track of their attendance. Career Fair and Board Meetings count ! Tell the Master at Arms when you have a makeup. - - - Bill Grace announced that roster updates were available, pick one up ! He also mentioned that current pictures are needed for next year's roster. Bill passed around a roster for members to up-date. Call or email Bill if you have corrections. - - - President Chuck asked for a board meeting after the meeting. - - - Tyler announced that the Career Fair was a SUCCESS & OVER ! - - - The Projects Committee will meet April 22nd 11:00. - - - The "Club in a Club" event will be held at the Beacon Ballroom on May 22nd 5:00PM. - - - Youth Service Awards will be on May 20th. - - - Tim V. announced our first HiWay Cleanup on May 1st – It will be the last 2 miles of I-5 North in Blaine. Ray G. announced Youth Fair Judging will be April 9th and 10th and He needs help ! - - - Paul C. announced Youth Study Exchange is progressing and there will be an event at Nancy T's. House at 5:30PM on May 12th. Brian F. presented the club with two checks totaling $30,000.00 proceeds, from the auction. HAPPY BUCKS: The following people were happy: Maureen M. was happy about the Career Fair. – Randy C. and Norman V. were happy that Megan was visiting. – Scott W. was happy about the cookies he purchased at our auction and his retirement. – Julie J. was $100 happy for a number of items. – Paul C. was happy for the Career Fair and HiWay cleaning. – Tim V. for Career Fair. – Bill G. for giving blood and Career Fair. – Marlene S. for 31 years of marriage. – Tyler C. for the Career Fair and his guest. – Greg I. for Career Fair. – Laurie L. for 43 years of marriage. – Tim C. needed change and was happy about the Career Fair. FINEMASTER: Lex Ludtke Tim V. two IOU's for $5. – Marlene S. IOU for $2. – Anyone who hadn't done the Northwind owed a $1. – Tim C. for his kitchen remodel and article about it. – Anyone that has an old picture in the Roster. – Anyone not helping on the Career Fair owed $2. – Any Frontier Bank non-customers owed $1. – Anyone that hasn't paid their meal bill $1. Banners: All the banners were triangle in shape. PROGRAM: Pete R. introduced Jim Britton, a board member, and Mary Swenson, the Executive Director, of The Law Advocates. This organization provides non-criminal free legal services to people who can't afford representation. They gave a very interesting program and showed a short video.
