No Birthdays or Anniversaries
Announcements: The District Training session is this weekend in Canada. Members are encouraged to join President Elect Dale for this exciting gathering.
The District Conference is April 28th-May 1 at Semiahmoo. The Star Park hands on project is June 4th.
Career Fair went well with the kids enjoying the presentations and the Lighthouse Mission really appreciated the leftovers.
The Rubber Ducky Derby tickets have been printed and will be distributed next week.
Happy Bucks: Bill was happy that the Career Fair was over and went well but felt bad that he had been sending the Law Enforcement presenters to the wrong building. Dale was very happy about his two weeks in Hawaii. Marlene was $45 happy about her 37th Wedding Anniversary to Mark, her two children, her two son-in-laws and 4 grandchildren. Nancy Jordan was happy about Alaska Air flying directly to Kona. Laurie was $1 happy about the weather and $49 about her and Rick’s Wedding Anniversary. Ken was $5 happy about career fair and $5 fine for not being there at the end to help with the Sandwiches. Jake had a happy buck for the Mariners’ success so far this season. Sharon was happy about the Career Fair success. Deb had $5 scooter bucks since she had to leave early.
Fine Master: Marlene was well prepared for her responsibilities. Ken was fined $2 for not being Aunt Faye’s favorite. Dale was fined $2 for all his vacation talk while Marlene was slaving away in recent days. Julie was fined $2 for being unclear on her “last” tax season. Marlene reversed things up by fining members who were wearing their Rotary Pins. Everyone who didn’t fulfill their Career Fair responsibilities was fined a dollar. Bill was fine $2 for his excessive dessert talk and $2 for sending presenters to the wrong building at the Career Fair. Eric was fined $3 for his unusually casual attire. Jake two bucks for being “Jake Late”. Laurie was fined $2 for something and everyone who was not fined had to pay a buck.

Program:
Nancy Jordan introduced Gloria Point and Laura Williams who provided today’s program on the Lummi Nation Service Organization (LNSO). The mission of LNSO is to protect and improve the health and quality of life for the people of the Lummi Nation by supporting and strengthening programs, projects and special initiatives—especially those organized to promote social well-being, education, culture and civic purposes. L.N.S.O. provides fiscal sponsorships to programs to leverage the non-profit status; such as the Lummi Ventures Partnership, the Lummi Community Development Finance Institute, Grandma’s Little Helpers, and working with other tribal programs such as the Lummi Victims of Crime to research funding opportunities to provide services to the community and create linkages between funding agencies and existing partners. http://lumminationservice.org/ The Lummi Nation Service Organization has been about to generate over $6 million in funding to help eliminate poverty among members of the Lummi tribe. There have been numerous successes in their efforts including the Salish Screen Printing company operated by Keith Tom.
The Admin facilities of LNSO are here at the Lummi Te'Ti'Sen Center (Gateway). Te’Ti’Sen means where the waters meet. The Lummi Tribe population is about 5,000 enrolled members.
Drawing: Sharon won the Door Prize of some elaborately ornate cheese spreaders. Eric had a shot at the drawing but came up with the 9 of Spades, soooooo the pot continues to grow.
