Tim called the meeting to order and led us in the pledge of allegiance.
The Moment of Reflection was provided by Sharon “walk lightly in the Spring, mother nature is pregnant”.

Birthdays Anniversaries: None
Visiting Rotarians: Bill Kirby, Carson City NV
Returning Rotarians: Laurie was away to Monroe and Langley BC for Horse Shows with her granddaughter and Julie tried to do a makeup at the from Wailea, Maui club but no one showed.
Announcements: Career Fair was a great success. Still need Duck Derby Sponsors. Ferndale Chamber luncheon is open to any members who would like to attend. Next week will be a Club Assembly. YSA, May 18th. Duck Derby is August.
Happy Bucks: Pati was $5 for attending the Rotary District Assembly along with Jill, Rollo and Tim. She was happy about the Career Fair. Laurie was $20 happy for not being here but being with her granddaughter. Bill was pleased with how the Career Fair went. Ken $20 for heading to Hawaii. Julie was happy about her trip to Hawaii. Sharon enjoyed the Career Fair speaker, Rick was happy to see our guest Bill Kirby, the career fair and seeing Laurie back with us. Stan’s was happy about his son’s dinner that had his great great grand mother’s dinner ware. Tim was $5 happy about the career fair sessions and the District Assembly. Additional happy bucks were given for Rick’s fashion donations.
Fines: Tim filled in for Mr. Jim Blaney, starting with a fine for your editor for harassing the FM, Pati for her phone going off. A suggested fine from Mr. Blaney if you haven’t had an ant crawled out of your facial hair like he did. $2 if were not at the career fair. A buck if you are not a past president of the club (Pati). If you don’t know the banners pay a buck.

Program: Red Cross Prepareness: Quinn Butler,
Northwest Division of the Red Cross serves 3 ½ counties with 300 volunteers. The mission of the Red Cross is to provide support to Military Families, provide health and safety in times of natural diasters, Blood Donations, International services.
The type of Hazards we need to prepare for in Whatcom county are earthquaskes, floods, winter storms, volcanos, wild fires, and mudslides.
In the case of a natural diasaster, we should have enough food on hand for a week to a month.
Emergency response could take up to 3-7 days.
We should have enough Water available for up to 30 days.
How to be prepared;
Make a plan, build a survival kit, and review the plan.
Plan: communication contacts outside the area.
Work together, talk to your neighbors, share information, know who has specialized skills, who has the tools to help. CERT Community Emergency Response Team.
Build a Kit: 7-14 days of supplies. Remember your pets.
Cascadian Earthquake Zone. Drop, cover and hold on. Avoid falling items.
We could experience Volcanoes and Landslides and we’ve all been in severe weather and power outages or seen the effects of Flooding and House fires.
