Whatcom North Rotary Northwind April 15th, 2010 MEETING TO ORDER: President Chuck Tull called the meeting to order at 12:30 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Tony Cubellis gave the invocation. VISITING ROTARIANS: George Tsakumis of Vancouver, and Dave Morse of Bellingham. GUESTS: None. BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES: None. RETURNING ROTARIANS: Doug Thomas from California, and Jeanne McGee from Mexico ROTARY FOUNDATION MOMENT: Jim Bliss talked about how you can support The Foundation while shopping on line, or just send money. Jim took quite a ribbing for being the only non-computer person in the Club giving a computer related thought. ANNOUNCMENTS: President Chuck announced a board meeting on May 6th at 7:30. Laurie L. – the Projects Committee will meet April 22nd at 11:00. Paul C – The Group Study Exchange "is all set". Chuck T.-Youth Services ready to go May 20th. Ray G.- "Club in a Club" is ready to go on May 22hd. Ray G.- "Youth Fair" went VERY WELL !. Tim V.- got "close and personal" with a cow. Rome S. and Laurie L. had good things to say about the judging. Ken R.- had no report about the "Change of Officer's Dinner Meeting". Bill G.- passed the correction sheet around for the new roster. The I-5 Hi-Way Clean-up will be May 1st. HAPPY BUCKS: The following people were happy: Chuck T. was happy that all he needed was a transmission instead of a new car.- Gary T. about most members paying lunch dues.- George T. about getting well.- Norm V. was $18 happy ?- Greg T. $10 for going to Hawaii.- Randy C. for tax day.- Ray G. $32 for years of marriage.- Julie J. for tax day.- Max L. for tax day.- Jeanne Mc. to be home.- Dan B. for Ray's wife.- Rome S. for Club's support of Youth Fair.- Jim B. for Ray's work.- Tony C. for another phone and Ray's work.- Marlene S. for the Youth Fair and Ray's work.- Laurie L. Mariner's Game.- Tim V. for the Youth Fair and Ray's work. Bill G. $5 got a building permit in less than 30 days.- Ray G. for everybody that helped. FINEMASTER: Maureen McCarthy Maureen started by fining anyone that hadn't been fined by her $1 and if you couldn't remember $2. Beer fines included "brew's day" and "micro brews". A number of people paid $1 for not knowing what was on the front page of the Herald. Ray G. was recognized for his good works. Gary T. for wearing jeans and boots. Julie J. for not knowing about April 21st and 22nd. Dan B. also didn't know that they were Earth Day and Administrative Assistant's Day. Leah M. for bringing her two year old daughter to career day – too much pressure for her age. Doug T. for traveling. Jake for being late and not knowing when the meeting is suppose to start. Marleen S. for sharing a birthday with the fine master. Banners: All the banners were from South of the "Mason Dixon Line. We still need one from Mississippi. PROGRAM: Pete R. introduced Leah Macaleer of Junior Achievement, and a member of our Club. It was a very interesting program including a short video and a lot of questions and answers.
