MEETING TO ORDER:  President Ken called the meeting to order at 12:28 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Winton Smith gave the invocation.

VISITING ROTARIANS:   From Bellingham Bay:  Mike Kirkland, Glendine

Barley, Shannon Terrell, Donna Edquist, and Matt Rose.  Visiting from out of town:  Pete Ruese (Sedro Wooley) and George Tsakumas (Vancouver, B.C.)

GUESTS:  Rose Abbaspour introduced Brandi Kristie and Hilary Baumstarck introduced Lori Lloyd.

BIRTHDAYS: None

RETURNING ROTARIANS:  Tony Cubellis returned after 7 months.  He is 20 pounds lighter, has a clean bill of health and encourages everyone to do what their doctor tells them to do!  Lynn Seelye returned from 5 weeks in Palm Desert with a nice tan.  Jim McKellar was happy to be back from Indio, CA.

ANNOUNCMENTS: Paul Cooley appreciated all the help at the Career Fair and received lots of positive feedback.  All are in agreement that this is a very worthwhile project.  Tim Carpenter announced a Champagne Luncheon/Auction for "Pure Water for the World".  This will be Sunday, May 6^th at ll:30 in the Bellwether Ballroom.  The price is $60.00 per person, which includes a $25 raffle ticket.  Invitations were on the table, but you can also call Donna Edquist at 734-7125 or go to www.bellinghambayrotary.com.  Tim realized he was plugging B'ham Bay club, but assures all that B'ham Bay will reciprocate.  Stay tuned for Tim's spellbinding presentation about his trip and "Pure Water".  Bill Grace presented a roster update and a thank you to Starbucks for their donations to the Career Fair.  Dick Donahue announced that he will have Mariner tickets to auction off at upcoming meetings.  The beginning bids will be $75.00 but if you buy a ticket to a losing game (ed. note: Someone always loses, but I assume he means the Mariners) he will give you a ticket to another game.  Marlene Sexton announced the continuing search for RYLA candidates.  And finally, you can meet Dino Rossi for breakfast on April 20^th.  He will be meeting members of the Rotary community and providing info on the Forward Washington Foundation.  This will all be happening at Johnny Carinos in Burlington.  RSVP to John Piazza Sr.  (360) 661-1332.

HAPPY BUCKS:  Tony Cubellis was $100.00 happy to be (a) 63 years old, (b) 7 days in the hospital, and (c) feeling 30.  Rich Jacobson $5.00 for his son's 3.97 GPA.  Rich and Robyn had promised the kids a cruise if they graduated from H.S. with a 3.5, and they could bring a friend if they got 3.8.  Calvin will be bringing his girlfriend.  Lynn Seelye $20.00 to be back from Palm Desert.  Dan Baker had met them there and brought Halibut and Crab.  Lynn was also grateful to be back to Northwest golf courses.  Mel Hollinger $5.00 for bringing Josh Wilund into the club.  Tim Carpenter $5.00 for guests Donna and Glendine and to welcome Josh.  Sharon Robinson $5.00 for Tony Cubellis' return, for Josh, for her new puppy (Great Pyrenes), for a new vehicle to transport puppy, and hopes that she will not have to buy a new residence to fit the puppy.  George Tsakumis had happy $ to welcome Tony back.  Bill Grace  $ for Josh, Jim McKellar, a healthy Tony Cubellis and for the sun and the flowers.  Randy Carr gave happy $ for Josh and the vacation he will take next week to spend time with his family.  Bob Bowman had $ to celebrate the "common ground" with Mel, agreeing with him on the vision to bring Josh into the club.  Rose had $2 for Josh and her oldest granddaughter's team won the Virginia basketball State Division.  Paul Cooley $2 for a gas leak that did not blow up his store.  He is also happy to be taking a college class on marketing and believes he would like to start up a new airline.  Tim Villhauer $1 for Paul and his efforts at the Career fair and to welcome Josh.  He also offered to help Paul with credit cards for his new airline.  Hilary had $5 for Paul's career fair and for his guest Lori.  Stan had a $1 for the U.S. Post Office and the fact that he had a PO Box for 61 years and nobody knew who he was.  Dan Baker had $5 for Tony's return, Josh, and the Seelye's hospitality.  Dick Donahue $5 for the on time flight to Sacramento; (There's always a 1^st!)  Josh Wilund tried to give pesos as a thank you for being allowed to join and he had a thank you to Julie, Doug and Mel for the Metcalf Project and also a plug for B'ham Boys & Girls Club auction on the 23^rd.  Max Legg had Happy Bucks for Matt Rose who is a distinguished Naval Academy Alum.  Gary Tomsic bought back the pesos Josh so generously gave, stating he does not want to deal with them in the treasury.

FINEMASTER:   Dick Langabeer was the Finemaster and fined Josh Wilund  for his 1^st official meeting and plugging another club and using pesos.  (In a fit of guilt, Dick paid the fine.)  Tony Cubellis was fined $2 as a welcome back gesture (in spite of his generous donation) and this was paid by Jake Smith and to prove that no good deed goes unpunished, Jake was fined $2 more.  Max Legg, Jack Curnow and Julie Johansen were all fined $2 for the Lady Liberty who seems to represent all accountants this time of year.  Due to the large number of guests and so many missing regular members, the guests were fined. 

Banners:  Thank you to Stan for the Banners that Rich guessed correctly as being green for April showers and of course, Rich was fined for getting it right.

PROGRAM:    Program was Mike Kirkland (Introduced by Hilary).  Mike is the Executive Director of Whatcom Hospice Foundation and this interesting  program explained the Hospice Foundation and the Hospital Foundation goals and mission.  .
