MEETING TO ORDER:  President Tim Villhauer called the meeting to order at 12:30 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Pete Kremen gave the invocation. Including that November is National Adoption Month.

 

VISITING ROTARIANS: George Tsakumis of the Vancouver Club and Ron Jepson of the Bellingham Club.

BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES:  Pete Ruese - November 20th.  Lynn & Pete Ruese - November 17th

 

RETURNING ROTARIANS:  President Tim back from Iowa

 

ANNOUNCMENTS:       

 

NO MEETING NOVEMBER 27TH - THANKSGIVING!

 

Bill Grace announced that roster updates were in progress and sent a master roster around for members to correct. See Bill if you weren't at the meeting.

 

Chuck Tull announced that The Salvation Army is looking for bell ringers, for Blaine on one or all of the following dates - November 6, 13 and 20. Chuck also feels Ferndale will be asking, so contact Chuck if you can help.

 

Marlene Sexton announced a new Rotary Program - Adventures in Leadership, for 15 to 17 year old students to attend.  The deadline is December 7, 2008.

 

Rick Staeb announced that Western Washington University's Football Team will play in the Rotary Bowl. You can "Google" it for more information.

 

HAPPY BUCKS:   The following people were happy:

Chuck Tull for the Foundation Dinner.

Randy Carr for the Foundation Dinner and His Paul Harris Award.

Brian Finnigan for being "peed & pooped" on - see Brian for details.

Tim Carpenter for the Foundation Dinner and finished remodel.

Bill Grace for a new addition.

George Tsakumis for a trip to Arizona, and a make-up at Scottsdale Rotary.

Scott Wallace for goose hunting.

Maureen McCarthy about good weather and bus rider ship being up 220,000 month over month with last year.

George Myiow for missing Foundation Dinner.

Tony Cubellis for Pete Kremen getting his salary raise.

Jim Bliss for Ferndale football.

Dick Donahue for trips including Apple Cup and Cougars in Hawaii.

Marlene Sexton for a trip and getting her car fixed after a deer ran into the side of the car.

Rick Staeb for missing Foundation Dinner and travel.

Gary Tomsic for Blaine football.

Stan Brunner for Ferndale Football.

Jake Smith for having a reunion lunch with 16 old buddies.

Pete Ruese for 46 years of marriage.         

 

FINEMASTER:     Ken Richardson

 

Ken charged anyone missing the Foundation Dinner a buck.

Ken fined everyone except WWU Alumni because of not going to a bowl game.

Jim Bliss was fined for stealing the mike meant for Tony Cubellis.

Jake Smith for being the last one in and his cell phone ringing.

President Tim for missing meetings and the number of canceled meetings due to holidays.

Maureen McCarthy for not charging enough for bus rides.

Ken also wanted everyone leaving early to pay up.

PROGRAM:           The scheduled program did not show up so the following members gave short talks:

 

Stan Brunner - about the early days of the club, club boundaries, no lady members, recent poor attendance of spouses.

 

Tyler Cook - New Member Talk - He is the store manager of the Meridian Street Haggen's Store. He is married with a son and a daughter. He likes motorcycle riding and is a Husky Fan.

 

Jake Smith - Talked about his Presidential Year 78/79 as being "kind of fun". And then went on to tell some humorous stories as only Jake can do.

 

Dick Donahue - Talked about his Presidential Year 82/83 when The Club had between 30 to 35 members, the main fundraiser was a "casino night" and most club projects were "hands on" types.

 

DRAWING: The card drawn was not a winner.
