The Rotary Club of Collie is pleased to share an update on how recent community donations have been put to work supporting vital services for vulnerable people in our region.
Through strong collaboration with St Brigid Parish Collie, Rotary has contributed to a series of practical upgrades that will directly assist individuals and families facing crisis situations such as house fires, severe weather events, or sudden displacement.
Restoring Emergency Accommodation Facilities
St Brigid Parish has been working to refurbish three unused rooms within the old St Brigid School building. These rooms will serve as short‑term emergency accommodation, providing a safe and warm place for people who need immediate support.
Rotary’s financial contribution assisted with essential works including:
Laundry repairs and upgrades
Shower roof repairs
Emergency hall roof repairs
These improvements ensure the facilities are safe, functional, and ready for use when families or individuals find themselves without shelter.

Supporting Dignity Through a New Laundry Service
In addition to building repairs, Rotary has donated a brand new washing machine to support a free laundry service for people experiencing homelessness or hardship. This service will commence late October, offering clean clothing to those who may not have access to washing facilities.
This initiative provides more than hygiene — it restores dignity, confidence, and comfort for community members doing it tough.
