Since our very successful skype session with My Huong of the children's home in Vietnam, many more emails have been sent & received. My Huong has decided that with regard to funding considerations, she would like to go ahead with the vocational side of things and has requested consideration be given to funding the purchase of 6 sewing machines. The centre currently has 10 sewing machines and would like the Club to consider purchasing 6 more. The cost in AUS$ would be $2,700 (rounded up); or if the Club would prefer to only purchase 5 the cost would be AUS$2,250. These additional machines would enable set up of this program to be completed. My Huong has sourced a local businessman who has agreed to do a "bulk" order discount if we purchase 6 machines in one order. The supplier has also agreed to install the machines and service them for the first 12 months.
If the Club decides to fund this project, it would be in addition to projects already allocated funding in the budget.
Bob Greig spoke in favour of proceeding with the purchase of 6 machines; Peter Reuben was also in agreeance. Members present were unanimous in favouring the purchase. The Directors will consider the proposal and inform the Club of the outcome.
