TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
CEDARBURG, WI — More than 40 businesses and individuals have come forward to sponsor the Rotary Ride bicycling event, which will be held Saturday, May 22, at Cedar Creek Park in Cedarburg from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
When the pandemic hit, the Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary was forced to cancel its two major fund-raising events: the Rotary Music Festival in July and the Milwaukee Symphony Holiday Concert in December.
“The Rotary Ride was conceived so that the club could continue to fund its technical scholarship program in a safe environment,” said Linda Pierschalla, president of the Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary. “We are so gratified by the number of sponsors who stepped up to support our cause.”
Ozaukee Bank’s Gift to the Future is the lead sponsor of the event. Four routes are being offered for individuals and families of all abilities as well as a virtual option. A 10-mile family-friendly route will head out on the relatively flat Interurban Trail. Longer routes of 25, 45 and 65 miles will traverse the scenic roads of Ozaukee County. There will be rest stops with refreshments on each route and local bike shops will provide technical support.
Registration is available at Rotary-Ride.com. The fee includes a t-shirt and goody bag. After the ride, cyclists will be invited to meet in the park for a socially distanced party that will include food trucks, a beer & wine garden, music by DJ Rick Jules and a 50/50 raffle. Each rider will be provided lunch and two beverage tickets.
The after-ride party is open to the public.
