National Youth Science Forum Candidate
Our very first successful candidate to go to the National Youth Science Forum in Canberra was with us this morning. She spoke of the application process she went through to make it to the elite group who will be doing 'all things science' at the Australian National University from 4 - 16th January 2016.
Jayde indicated that it all started with her science teacher at Ursula Frayne recommending that she go. So Jayde put in an application. She was then asked to attend the District interview process which showed how she could work in a team environment and contribute to making that team successful. She was also asked to prepare a 3 minute speech (with just 3 minutes preparation) before being interviewed by a panel of Rotarians.
Once she had been told that she was a successful candidate, Jayde has subsequently been to an Orientation morning where scientists from all over Australia showcased a variety of avenues of science for the young people to consider. She has also been to Government House, met the Governor and other leading West Australian scientists as well as the other candidates for the National Youth Science Forum who are going from WA. She will be in Canberra from the 4 - 16th January 2016; staying at the Australian National University.
Her passion is health and bio-medical science.
