President Mike Bermann officially handed over the gavel to incoming President Ron Alexander at Mt Lawley Golf Club on the weekend.  It was the culmination of another very successful year for the club and one that saw outgoing President Mike overwhelmingly voted "Rotarian of the Year" by our club members.

Through various fundraising activities which included our very successful Bricktober exhibition of Lego models "built by our community for our community" and our running of this year's Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians golf tournament, and an extremely generous family trust, the Rotary Club of Ascot was able to fund -
An Interplast team of plastic and reconstructive surgeons and their support staff to travel overseas to repair bodies and rebuild lives across the Asian Pacific Region while training local medical staff.
Two vehicles donated to Starick to aid in their work alongside women and children escaping family and domestic violence, and support them to rebuild their lives by establishing long term safe housing and aid their independence.
Sponsorship of two vehicles for Wheels for Hope who provide wheelchair hoist vans to eligible families with disability so that they may access critical and remedial services, education and community activities.
Phase 5 of our water pipes, tanks and taps project which provides fresh clean drinking water and toilet facilities to isolated hamlets in Timor Leste resulting in vast improvements in the health and well-being of hundreds of villagers.
Donations to Rotary Foundation and its life changing projects and to Polio Plus to support the fight to finally eradicate Polio.
Donation of numerous Lego Play Tubs to Alyssa's Autism Acceptance Program and several schools to help engage, motivate and reward kids.
Various sponsorship of youths to maths, science, leadership and enrichment programs, camps and many other events.
And the list goes on ....

Well done Ascot!  And well done outgoing President Mike Bermann!
