JCLA students, Rohan and Kathryn joined us today to talk about the work they have been doing to get the message out to the wider public about Bricktober.

They, along with the 3 other members of their team (Michelle, Sarah and Berhanu) have been working at developing a publicity strategy as part of their commitment to JCLA.  As students at Curtin University they were selected for the John Curtin Leadership Academy program because of their commitment to leadership qualities.  The chosen group of 30 heard about 19 different projects that were on offer and five were eventually selected.  Bricktober Publicity was one of them.  Rohan is the Project Manager and is thoroughly enjoying working with such a cohesive team.  Kathryn is the Marketing Officer and has been busy coordinating contacting local newspapers; radio stations; putting up posters in creches, shopping centres, medical centres - to name just a few.  So far they've had some successes as Berhanu has been photographed in the Southern Gazette and Sarah (a journalism student) wrote and had published her own article in the Roleystone Courier.  They will continue to work on getting the message out.

They all did a test run of the speed build and Rohan admitted to being shocking at building lego at speed; and that Kathryn was very good.
