Ann Nyaga is a Clinical Nurse at St John of God, Midland Public and Private Hospital.  That is not all she is.  She is an amazing young lady with a vision and plans she wants to put in place to help those who need medical care.

About 2 years ago our club sponsored a young lady to undertake the LEAP program in the USA.  She is now back and is keen to give back to the community.  Born in Kenya, the 4th of 5 children, she remembered how supportive her father was in her plans to become a Nun.  After his death it seemed that people tended to focus on what she could not do rather than what she could do.  She emigrated to Perth as a 14 year old and once she'd finished her secondary schooling undertook her nursing training at Edith Cowan University.  She is an active volunteer who has mentored young Africans living in our community, is the President of the Mindarie-Clarkson Liberal branch and in her spare time loves reading and spending time with her loved ones.

She used the LEAP training to help her to turn her dreams into a reality; and is heading back to the USA along with Deepti to act as coach to new participants.  She has an amazing dream for her future - to become the Director of Nursing in a Perth Hospital; to study her Masters at Curtin University and through her desire to give back to the community she wants to build a hospital in Africa to provide the best health care to everyone who comes - regardless of their life expectancy.  She knows this may take some time, but she knows now that it is important to have a plan, to set some action steps, to ask for assistance from those around who have answers to questions that she is facing and to take the necessary action to turn those dreams into reality.

Ann we wish you all the best as you commence your university training later this year; and please keep in touch.  Who knows - maybe we can help you with your plan to get that hospital off the ground.!?  Thank you for coming this morning and sharing those plans with us.
