At our meeting last Tuesday we heard from Chris, a supporter of, and volunteer for Care Bags.
Chris, seen here with Club President Jodie, and Rotarian Ros spoke to us about the work she does with Care Bags.
A recently retired principal, she has known the person who started Care Bags for a number of years, and thought that she might be able to help out while she transitions to retirement. She's probably never been busier doing some amazing work to ensure that kids who are taken into care get something they can call their own.
Care Bags is a volunteer organisation set up by its founder Sarah who, as a social worker, saw what was happening to children who are placed in care with only what they were wearing. They work with a number of community organisations, hospitals, refuges, and the Department of Communities, Child Protection and Family Support around the state ensuring they have provisions for when they are required. They also provide culturally appropriate dolls, and Transient Teenager Toiletry Bags for those who need them as well.
All the items that go into the bags are brand new so the recipient feels they are cared for. The bags are filled with clothing, toiletries, and other items to help them get through those first few days of being in care.

Thank you Chris for a wonderful summary of the work done by Care Bags who we supported in our Christmas Gift Giving in December. It was lovely to find out where our funds went and to know that it all went on the people who need something from us. Keep up the great work.
