The Mad Hatter's Dinner - Handicamp 2017

Each year some amazing people get together for one incredible week in January. They are the Handicamp crew - committee, support staff, buddies and campers. This year was no different. Rotarians and friends are invited to their annual dinner - The Sloan Handicamp Dinner. The theme this year was "mad hatter's" so we were invited to come dressed with this in mind.
Handicamp has been running annually since 1982 when Rotarian Ron Sloan got it going. Clubs are invited to nominate buddies and campers to be involved in the program; and also host specific activities during the week. Sarah Wood, one of the Handicamp Buddies is the daughter of our member Aidan.

She is seen here with her camper, Ashleigh and District Governor Linda.Despite the rain that they had had the previous 2 days, the campers and buddies all managed to get out and about and enjoy a visit to the zoo on Monday. It is a great opportunity for young people who have a handicap to get together and find out what they can do with the support of some amazing people.
Jodie Sparks was the convener for this year's Handicamp and paid tribute to the many people on her team who have worked tirelessly to make the event happen. Her involvement at Handicamp spans some 23 years.
Well done everyone for making this happen once again.
