June Wade spoke to us about Shelterbox this morning. We have previously donated funds to Shelterbox, but this is the first time we've really understood the extent of the work they do.
June gave us a very detailed account of the amazing work of this organisation. It was started in the UK when one person had a dream to help those in need. He bought a big tub and then asked lots of people what they would need if they became homeless due to a natural disaster. He then filled the box with those items. It started as a small project, but from this something big has grown and shelterboxes are now distributed all around the world during times of crises.
Shelterbox now has a variety of items they provide for those who need support after a natural disaster. June showed us some of the newer inventions that help provide light and power as well as clean water. Thanks June for a very informative session this morning.
