It was our privilege this morning to enjoy a wonderful breakfast with our Interact Club students and supporting staff members at Ursula Frayne College.

President Sofia; Secretary Neha and Treasurer Cindy are leading the Interact club this year.

President Sofia spoke of the projects they have on the go for their club this year.  Their 15 members, who meet during lunch time have certainly been busy.

  • they've already held a Water Balloon Challenge to raise funds for Project Compassion which helps to reduce poverty around the globe.
  • The Executive members will be running in the HBF Run for a Reason this Sunday - all the best girls.  We hope you do well, and raise lots of funds for your cause.
  • Once again this year they plan to host a Homeless sleepout and are looking to raise funds through donations.  This will be held in August in their college gymnasium.  It is a great way for students to 'do it rough' for a night.
  • As well as these events they will have a station at the annual Frayne Day where they are hoping to raise lots of funds to forward to East Timor to support the work that the Ascot Rotary Club is doing there.

It was great to see so many students at the breakfast; and a big thank you to teacher Greg Wheeler who is the Interact Coordinator at the College.

We are already looking forward to our joint meeting with them next year with a whole lot of new faces as the current Interact club members are all in Year 12 and will soon be finishing their studies and moving on the even bigger and better things.  We wish you all well in your endeavours.  Remember that Rotaract is one step beyond Interact so if you are interested in continuing your "service above self", I'm sure there will be a Rotaract Club who is out there looking for you and your support.
