Be a Gift to the World is our Rotary theme for this year.  Well these young people were certainly a gift to us.

Michelle, Kathryn, Rohan and Sarah, along with Renata and Berhanu are all JCLA students involved in the John Curtin Leadership Academy program at Curtin University.  They along with their coordinator Genevieve came to our rescue at a time when we were swamped with work trying to get our Bricktober message out to the people.  They grabbed the opportunity to develop their leadership and teamwork skills by taking on our publicity for Bricktober as their challenge.

This morning they spoke to us about some of the challenges they faced and what they each learned about themselves.  Rohan loved the leadership opportunities it presented; Sarah found a greater sense of confidence in what she could do, as well as appreciated the teamwork that came with it all; Kathryn found out about the 'power of the people' through all the networking she did; and Michelle learned that if you are passionate about something you can achieve what you thought was impossible.

We thought the work they did was amazing; and as a thank you to the students we provided them with a little gift of their own; as well as handing them Pride of Workmanship Awards.

Look out JCLA we will be coming back next year.

Thank you to all the students and Genevieve the coordinator for all that you have contributed to our very successful Bricktober 2015.
