Dr Glenn Farrant provided us with some rather horrifying statistics about how healthy (not) we are, and how this generation of children will be the first to be outlived by their parents - which is somewhat alarming.

The statistics that Glenn provided us with this morning shows an alarming picture of a nation which is getting progressively less and less healthy and less and less mobile.  We eat far to much 'fast food' and exercise too little when compared with our parents' generation.

As he has developed an interest in finding out how to make his own body work better, he has become increasingly sure that the best way to make any changes is to work with the young children in primary schools as their belief systems are still being developed.  He has witnessed a progressive decline in posture in children, poor diet and its effect on their moods, higher anxiety levels, increasing levels of chronic diseases in young people, reduced activity levels and an epidemic of 'screen' time.  He has developed a program, called the Health Ninjas Program which he has trialed in a school that encourages children to take more control over what they put into their bodies, and what exercise they do to keep the amazing machine that is their body working effectively.  He found that when he trialed the program the children were very motivated to make the necessary changes, and encouraged others to also get involved in making healthier choices (including their parents).

He would love to be able to roll this program out to a number of schools - his aim is for at least 20 this year.  We wish him well with his endeavours.  What we heard this morning certainly suggests it is a worthwhile project.

If anyone is interested in making contact with Dr Farrant, please check out the website:  www.healthninjas.com.au; or email Glenn at glennfarrant@me.com - he would be delighted to talk more about this work.

Thank you Glenn for coming this morning.  The work you are doing is amazing.
